When people talk about father-daughter dances, they mostly think of school dances, where the daughter bring their father as their guests, or weddings and the traditional father-bride dances.
Not this father-daughter pair!
It’s Keith’s daughter’s last year in high school and they wanted to do something special together. And since they’re both great at dancing, why not have a dance-off at his daughter’s “Senior Year” celebration?
For their dance-off, they decided to have a simple competition, which is better, old school or new school? Keith and his daughter will help you decide.
They’ve pre-recorded their act and their music so they can focus on dancing. That was a smart move and kept the entire performance fun and the audience wanting more.
When they walked on stage, Keith was giving his daughters a few reminders about college. And that no matter how hard she worked, she should still remember to always have fun. And Keith was going to show her how.
And he started to dance old school, complete with a break-dance routine at the end!
But his daughter stops him and tells him that’s not how people dance anymore and it’s new school dance now. She began to teach him new school dance steps but Keith just shakes his head and stops her mid-dance.
Then Montell Jordan’s song plays on the speakers and tells Keith’s daughter, “This is how we do it!”
Keith’s daughter makes fun of his old school dance steps at the back and stops him mid-dance, too. She tells him it’s already 2018 and teaches him even more new school dance steps.
They end their performance by dancing together to Will Smith’s rendition of “Just The Two Of Us” and showing each other that they’ll always have each other.
They danced off the stage to Kool and the Gang’s “Celebration.” Does that mean old school dance won?
Some of the people who watched this video think so. DSTANGO said, “Too cute but old school has the dance hands down!” Clara Cromwell said, “Dad, I’m old school and as far as I’m concerned ..you still got it…great job.”
Rose Castillo, from the new school dance generation, had to be honest and said, “Not gonna lie I jammed her dad’s music more! Old school wins in my book.”
And Sweet Rose has to admit that the dance is “So awesome. I loved them both. But old school is where it’s truly at, it inspired the new school dances.”
Well, whether you voted for old school or new school, you have to admit the way Keith and his daughter used to dance to bond with each other is admirable. It’s a great and awesome way to spend quality time with each other, getting to know the other and having fun at the same time.
And isn’t that what fathers want with their daughters? And it’s especially more challenging to have a great relationship when daughters become teenagers.
But it’s pretty clear here that Keith has a great, fun and loving relationship with his teenage daughter. And she’ll be off to college soon, which is definitely going to make their relationship even more challenging.
And with the way he raised her, judging on their stage presence, they won’t have too big of a problem maintaining it.
