There are some parents who can still hold it down and it is really impressive. When you have a โcoolโ parent who can dance, sing, or just get down with the young kids in general, it is definitely really rare and fun. Parents hanging out with their children and doing fun stuff together is the best! Itโs almost inspiring, even.
And weโve found a perfect example of that. This cool dad was not about to let self-isolation get in the way of a proper dad-son dance-off. Instead, the two figured out the technology and how to make it so that, even from separate houses, they can still dance together and dish out some friendly โinsults.โ
The father, Chris Starkey, uploaded this hilarious video to his YouTube channel late last month, where he dance battles it out with his oldest son โ who is named Sage and is 27-years-old.
โWhatโs up everyone? Itโs Chrisโฆ [My son] is a singer and dancer at Disney World! So he thinks Iโm taking advantage of his younger sister, Brooklyn, and he said itโs time to take me down,โ Chris says at the beginning of the video.
โHeโs challenged me to a battle to the first dance that Brooklyn and I did. So we need you guys to vote. I just got one thing to say: Youโre going down son!โ
Itโs no doubt that Chris is speaking with the most confidence, so our expectations are definitely high!
Then Sage comes in with his own little intro:
โThatโs right, I challenged my dad to this quarantine challenge. Why? Because I think itโs time for him to pick on someone his own size. And yes, Iโm a singer and dancer at Walt Disney World, but thatโs just the beginning for me,โ Sage laughs.
Then he adds that Disney is actually where his own father started and has photo evidence to prove it. Ouch โ we can already tell that they will be going head-to-head on this one, thatโs for sure!

Oof, now we know the stakes are high! But that doesnโt get these two down. The hit smash, โLowโ by Flo Rida, comes on and these two boys waste no time getting right into the dance.
The dance is fully choreographed as they both dance in sync. Sage has got it on lock and we are not surprised given his occupation.
But it doesnโt stop thereโฆ Turns out, the dad is really good too and he has definitely still got it! He matches up with his son and dances with so much enthusiasm, we have to say it is pretty impressive for someone who has been out of the game for a couple of years.
They both nail intricate footwork and twists and spinsโฆ And it is definitely not something you can just learn in a couple of minutes. They are skilled and put a lot of work into it!
