Family's River Picture Photobombed By "Ghost Child"
This gave me the chills.

What would you do if you thought you saw a ghost? Run, scream, laugh? Who knows. Most of us probably would just write it off as our eyes playing tricks on us.

However, what if a ghost child photobombed your family picture while you were out having a nice relaxing day at the river?

It sounds strange, but that is exactly what happened to mom Kim Davidson when she took her children down to the local swimming hole at Lockyer Creek in Helidon, Australia. The swimming area is popularly known among locals as Murphy’s Hole, and apparently, it’s a great place to hang out and cool off for the day. However, it turns out, a few ghosts may or may not like to hang out there as well.

When Kim looked at the photo taken of her and her friend Jessie Lu in the water along with her three kids, she noticed something extremely strange.

Right next to her in the background stood a random fourth child — a little girl.

Kim was shocked when she saw it as she insisted there was no one else in the water at the time the photo was taken.

However, the fourth ghostly looking child was impossible to ignore. The pale white outline of the girl was right there swimming next to her, clear as day.

When Kim was unable to come up with a plausible explanation for the appearance of the new child in the image, she turned to the Toowoomba Ghost Chasers Facebook group looking for answers.

The photo instantly spurred a lot of debate.

People in the group were understandably skeptical. They suggested that the “ghost” was likely the result of a splash in the water, overexposure from the sun, or perhaps a strange reflection.

Yet, a simple analysis done by creating a negative version of the image seemed to lend credibility to the idea that the photo might actually represent something more supernatural.

“Light flare will always show up as black shadowing when the photo is inverted.. and in this case the light flare is coming from full sunlight reflecting off the water onto the child,” the admin of the Facebook group wrote.

The paranormal experts on the Facebook group then began to dig deeper into the various theories and the conclusion they came to is pretty out there.

They think the child in the photo is actually the ghost of a 13-year-old girl who drowned in the swimming hole almost 100 years prior.

Her name is Doreen O’Sullivan, but she was known by her family as “Goo”. Researchers were even able to dig up an old newspaper clipping of the girl’s obituary.

After Doreen’s death, her family was devastated and her father forbade anyone from ever saying her name again.

Kim also mentioned that there were some other strange things going on that day too. She didn’t realize it until she replayed the day’s events back in her mind after the fact.

“On this day my daughter had her leg grabbed two times by something in the water,” said Kim

“When I went back in for one last dip to cool off I did feel something behind me as I was walking out of water but tried to ignore it,” she added.

Other people in the group even began to think that Goo was not the only spirit trapped in the swimming hole.

They discovered several faces in the photo that no one really noticed before, and Kim tended to agree with them.

“There is a man with a beard near the girl I’m holding, near her feet. There are about four faces in the water,” said Kim.

The whole thing is certainly pretty strange, and unfortunately, we’ll probably never learn the real truth about the photo.

We might just have to consider this one of those weird unexplainable occurrences that happen from time to time. Ghost or just a weird reflection on the water? That is the question…
