An unusual character on the internet
The internet has a wide variety of information, things, and people that will entertain you non-stop. Even the creation of such unusual personas – dressing up and acting the part – are popular nowadays, depending on the content he/she provides.
One example is a character named Tio Choko
Followed by over a hundred thousand people on his Facebook page, this unusual character has stirred the web with his hilarious dance moves.
The name Tio Choko, derived from a play of the Spanish word Tio (Uncle), and Choko, another Spanish name for chocolate, could be found almost everywhere these days.
His distinctive features are his silent, piercing gaze and his exaggerated mustache. Not only that, but he wears it along with a black cowboy hat, red-white checkered shirt, and jeans.
One iconic video of him consists of him along with two others dancing in an empty parking lot
This is what happens when you meet your favorite cousins at the Quinceanera
A Quinceanera is a celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday. This tradition is widely celebrated in Mexico and is now mostly spread throughout Latin America. However, the celebration isn’t exactly the focus, but the reunion with your favorite cousins during it. The video is mostly an exaggerated portrayal of that occasion. Although, it is probably what goes in our minds when this happens.
The dance begins with the character’s popular dance move
With the popular Mexican song, “No Bailes De Cabballito,” playing in the background, Tio Choko begins with his very iconic thrusting. His thrusting times with the beat perfectly well with him briefly glancing at both sides. When the camera zooms out, two more dancers appear, shimmying their shoulders while tapping their front foot. The three of them face the camera with intimidating gazes that you don’t know whether to laugh or be scared.
Without breaking character, these guys performed their dance amazingly
After their hilarious and unexpected entrance, our first impression might be that this video will all be just for laughs. However, they’ll suddenly surprise you with their insane dance moves. They busted a couple of slick routines; may it be solo or with all three of them in harmony. Although the video is meant to be comedic, they sure know how to impress people with their talent.
The video incredibly racked up more than 3.8 million views on YouTube
The dance was uploaded in 2018 and it managed to become viral on social media. The two dancers are actually Tio Choko’s special guests, and they are from Heavy Weight Musik, a dance duo that appeared during the 14th season of America’s Got Talent.
Who’s the man behind this mysterious character?
The man behind Tio Choko’s character is a Houston comedian, Bruce Wayne Zelaya Jr. He started making comedy videos in high school, uploading them on MySpace. Besides Tio Choko, he portrayed other self-made characters Chokula the vampire and Chokaine the rapper. However, when it comes to popularity, the Hispanic Cowboy Tio Choko comes on top.
Aside from his dances being funny, they are unusually influential
It’s hard not to laugh at Tio Choko’s silliness in each video. Sometimes you just don’t know what will happen next. Moreover, each video is meme-worthy. Aside from that, his dances are so easily captivating that plenty of people will surely start imitating him as well. Just recently, the #Chokolution dance craze went wild on TikTok after he mashed up Fleetwood Mac’s song, Dream, with his signature cowboy thrust. Basically, the world is happily dancing along with him with their funny renditions.
Maybe after this, you’ll find yourself dancing along as well.
