Kimberly Gager has a special skill — she’s a self-admitted “couponing addict.” The mom of three from San Antonio decided to put her money-saving expertise to good use — she wanted to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Gager is using her couponing skills and the power of social media to help provide families with household goods. Families that have lost everything in the devastating storm.

This amazing woman isn’t a stranger to dealing with tragedy herself — she says that she was living in Virginia when Hurricane Floyd came through in 1999. It completely destroyed her entire home.

“I had nothing,” she told ScaryMommy. “I had one child at the time this happened and I know how this feels.”

Simple things like deodorant, toilet paper, or diapers are desperately needed by hundreds of families. Gager knew she would be able to help.

Gager connects with survivors of the storm on Facebook to see what goods they need the most. She relies on the donations of people through Facebook as well. The donations are how she pays for all of the supplies

“It can take months and years for people to get their homes together again,” she said. “I want to relieve that burden for them.”

Her extreme-couponing, however, keeps the receipt totals at an impressive low. Sometimes saving near $1,500 a trip.

Gager has a normal job, but this has become her full-time second job. She spends all of her free time either shopping for the supplies or delivering the goods to families in need.

“Sometimes I’m delivering until 1 or 2 a.m.,” she says. “It’s really becoming a second job. I’ve gotten very little sleep.”

Gager totaled her SUV in June and has put the purchase of a new car on hold so that she could help hurricane victims. She’s using her second “raggedy” car.

Her empathy, compassion, and money-saving skills are beyond valuable. ScaryMommy asked Gager if she’s ever considered a mobile unit to provide help across the country when disasters strike. She says if the Facebook donations keep coming in — it’s certainly a possibility.

“I will help people as long as they need help.”

Gager is truly a godsend and angel on earth for so many hurricane victims. If you’d like to help, she has a PayPal.
