We’ve all admired shows like “Antiques Roadshow” where people find out that the junk in their homes is actually worth a fortune. Most of us have stuff in our homes that we don’t even know about.
A Bay Area Calif0rnia couple recently found a hidden surprise in their home.
But it wasn’t worth a fortune… it was priceless. Alex and Jess Monney found their hilarious hidden treasure while they were remodeling their bathroom.
Their contractor was gutting the old bathroom wall when he saw something hidden inside the wall.
It was a note and a picture of the previous homeowners.
“Hi! We’re the Shinseki’s! We remodeled this bathroom summer 1995. If you’re reading this, that means you’re remodeling the bathroom again. What’s wrong with the way we did it?!?!?” the note read.
There was also a message and photo of the Shinkseki’s pet bunny.
“Hi!I’m Cassie the Bunny Rabbit. I lived here too! (I’m potty trained!) I’m going to be the next Cadbury Bunny.”
Their contractor sent them photos of the hidden notes and the Monney’s posted them on Twitter where they ended up going viral.
The posts had gotten more than 80,000 in just 24 hours.
“We thought it was hilarious,” Alex told BuzzFeed. “Totally unexpected so it gave us a good laugh throughout the day.”
Someone on the internet even tried to track the Shinseki’s down.
Even comedian Sarah Silverman was encouraging people to find them.
Unfortunately, no one has been able to find them.
But Alex did, however, want to leave a message that they’ll hopefully see online.
“Your bathroom, and home, is lovely. It has given us a lot of beautiful memories and we can’t wait to raise our little baby girl here. Sorry we’re changing the bathroom, but the shower is too small for me to fit in (I’m 6′ and my wife is 5′). Thank you for the amazing surprise,” Alex told BuzzFeed.
The Monneys say they plan to continue the tradition and leave their own note hidden in their home during their remodel.
In the meantime, Jess says the remodel is going pretty well considering the fact that she’s about to have a baby.
And that they are glad to see their bathroom go.
“If you know me, you know I love house projects. However, even I think I might be a little crazy for kicking off a bathroom remodel 4 weeks before I’m due. Bye bye bathroom!” she wrote on Twitter.
