Although security cameras are becoming more and more prevalent, most people would not be too chill with having them pointed right into their backyard.
This was the case for Megan Reid and her partner who posted about their predicament on TikTok. While it is quite common for people to have outdoor security cameras, there is also a respectful way to go about it.
Reid was understandably upset to see not one but five of her neighbor’s cameras pointed toward her house.
In one of her now-viral TikTok videos, she points out all the cameras.
Megan sees this as an invasion of privacy but is unable to come to an amicable agreement with her neighbor.
Not only did Megan have to deal with the excessive surveillance on her home, but she also claimed that her neighbor would frequently yell at her.
It was time to take matters into her own hands.
Reid wasn’t ready to give up and decided to come up with a solution on her own.
She and her partner put up a clothesline and hung sheets to block the camera’s view into their yard. They shared this in one of their viral TikTok videos.
“When your crazy neighbor has five cameras pointed at your front door/driveway…you put up a clothesline.” #winning – @megancreid21
In another video, Megan sends a hilarious and very direct message to her neighbor.
Along the well-placed clothesline, Megan hung up a shirt that said ‘dryers broke, next to a shirt that read ‘I WIN.’ If that wasn’t funny enough, she also put up a shirt with a camera crossed out and a superman cape and costume. She included a very appropriate hashtag in her video caption…’#iwin.’ Yes, she might be right.
“Since she had the cops here yesterday it was too good not to share.” #crazyneighborcheck #iwin #keepitup – @megancreid21
Megan’s neighbor wasn’t backing down and neither was she.
After receiving suggestions from followers on TikTok, Megan and her partner decided to make the sheets a little brighter…with spotlights.
“Decided to take some suggestions and light her up…THANKS EVERYONE,” Megan wrote on TikTok.
The video shows off their handiwork set to the song, ‘Light Em Up’ by Fall Out Boy.
Sadly, the situation between Megan and her neighbor went to some unnecessary extremes.
In one of her TikTok videos, Megan records an alarm sound coming from her neighbor’s house. She walks over with the camera to show her followers where the sound is coming from.
She writes in her video that the alarm was put there by her neighbor who was setting it off each time Megan let her dogs out in her fenced backyard.
“Couldn’t be happier to move! Here are some excerpts from the most recent letters. Enjoy the crazy.” #crazyneighborchronicles #update
In an updated post, Megan writes that she and her partner moved out of their home and were happy they didn’t have to deal with the situation any longer.
She includes more details in the post about what went down during all the drama.
