One of the worst feelings has got to be the moment when you drop your favorite piece of food on the floor. If you believe in the five-second rule, you’ll often do your best to pick up that tasty treat as quickly as possible and make sure it doesn’t get contaminated with more germs. And even though it’s pretty much scientifically proven that the five-second rule isn’t a good indication at all and rather pure nonsense, we’d still very much like to save our fallen food so no delicious treat has to be wasted.

And even though dropping something tasty on the floor sounds horrible, it’s even more tragic if there’s a truckload of delicious food spilled all over the road.

One day, the Brookhaven, GA Police Department received a rather unique and funny call. A truck had just spilled a bunch of donuts everywhere on the street. It looks like a Krispy Kreme delivery truck accidentally lost its load, resulting in dozens of donuts ending up on the road.

Absolutely tragic.

“Just moments ago, your #BrookhavenPolice officers answered the call each of us fears most ๐Ÿ˜ณ. Dozens of donuts fell from a Krispy Kreme delivery truck as it drove along Peachtree Road. ๐Ÿšš๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿฉ. BPD rushed to the scene (๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿš“๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿšจ), but to no avail. We found total carnage; donuts scattered along the curb and into gutter- THE GUTTER, people!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿฅบ. The response time was stellar, but we couldnโ€™t beat the 5 second rule ๐Ÿ˜ข. We are deeply saddened to report that the donuts were a total loss ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ. As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time, and the senseless loss of these delicious pastries has deeply affected all of our officers ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€. We ask that you keep our department in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn this terrible moment. #OnlyHalfKidding #TheyLookedDelicious #WeKnowItsAstereotype #NoShame #DonutsMakeEveryoneHappy”

Even though the police officers rushed to the scene, all of the fallen donuts were no longer rescuable. A truckload of delicious and tasty pastries left the world way too soon.

With more than ten thousand likes and ten thousand shares, this ‘police report’ by the Brookhaven PD has gone viral, with dozens of people commenting in sympathy.

“The glazed look in your eyes๐Ÿ˜ณ shows how stunned you were over the loss of your sweet friends. I donut ๐Ÿ‘€ know how you managed to make it through the day after such a loss. My thoughts are with you all,” Kristie Stasi commented.

“As a former law enforcement officer I do not understand why there was no official escort. I understand no escort because of budget cuts for things like armored cars but a donut truck should NEVER be allowed to traverse the streets unescorted,” Dareld Lerdahl argued.

However, a neighboring police department quickly managed to lift their colleagues’ spirits after this tragic event.

Officers at the Gainesville Police Department sent a box of fresh Krispy Kreme donuts to their fellow law enforcers to show their sympathy. How sweet is that?

Being a police officer is an incredibly tough and often serious job, so it’s refreshing and heartwarming to see them in a more comical manner. Rest in peace, poor donuts!
