No one really likes the airport. It’s kind of like purgatory — everyone is just bored and waiting to get to the next destination — making it a pretty mundane experience overall.
Because everyone is so zoned out and tired, it takes a lot to make them want to stop in their tracks to watch something. This was something that made them want to stop and watch.
A man who appeared to be a custodian with a staff uniform, mop in hand, began to play the communal piano and spoiler alert: it’s a great performance. His level of skill transformed the airport into a concert hall.
What makes it even better is that the song he decided to play was Queen’s iconic hit “Bohemian Rhapsody.” It’s known to be a tough song to play, with so many changes and theatrics, but he totally nailed it and got the crowd pumped up. It was the perfect song choice.
But here is another spoiler alert: this guy isn’t actually a custodian. His name is George Sokol and he was actually dressed in disguise.
He is actually a composer, concert pianist, teacher and Top Music Scholar at Winchester College.
Since he is a performer, he wanted to add drama and really shock his audience with the uniform. I mean, how would you react if you saw an airport custodian whip out Beethoven-level musical skills?!
A passerby took a video of the moment and posted it online, which soon led to quickly going viral.
In the clip, we see George calmly putting the mop aside before sitting down and blessing everyone’s ears.
As he begins to sit down and play, a few people passing by glance over and smile as they continue on. But soon that changes, and people begin to stop. Everyone accumulates to then make a big crowd. Suddenly it’s a full-blown concert! Everyone was naturally drawn to him.
Once people started to gather around the musician, they felt like it was hard to leave. Two young girls were so mesmerized by the man’s talents, they began dancing around with each other, celebrating the wonderful music. It really brought everyone together.
Midway through the performance, one couple with a baby stopped and held each other as they watched him play. The family all stood together and watched, and it was absolutely adorable.
By the end of the performance, a group of people come together and cheer George on.
The composer never revealed his true identity to the people who were watching, but it honestly didn’t really matter. What mattered the most was that the people were coming together to celebrate a fabulous song which was being played by a fabulous performer.
There is truly no better way to get the people together than with Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” This just proves that as a fact.
It is probably best that he is not an actual custodian, because we wouldn’t want these seriously incredible talents to go to waste!
