Puns are super cheesy but its that kind of silliness that can put a big smile on your face.

And creating smiles is exactly what the Indian Hills Community of Colorado was trying to do with their roadside signage.

Community center volunteer Vince Rozmiarek has been decking their sign out with puns and funny phrases for the last five to six years.

The Indian Hills Community Center originally had a really small sign and Rozmiarek was asked to build a bigger one.

He started out just listing the events the community center would hold on the sign.

But he decided to do something different one April Foolโ€™s Day, 9 News reports. Rozmiarek remembers his first funny sign well.

โ€œI put up a sign that really stirred up the area,โ€ Rozmiarek told My Modern Met. โ€œWe have a heavy police presence in the town of Morrison, which is next to Indian Hills, and they run a ton of speed traps. The sign said โ€˜Indian Hills annexed by Morrison, slow down.โ€™ Many people believed that prank, and the amount of attention it brought was really surprising.โ€

It was then that Rozmiarek knew that he was on to something.

โ€œI could not believe how many people were calling the police,โ€ Rozmiarek told 9 News. โ€œI really had the people at the Sit N Bull bar scared out of their minds. I did that and just decided that got a lot of attention so Iโ€™ll start throwing things up there.โ€

Now Rozmiarek changes the signs a few times a week. Some of the puns or jokes come from his own ideas or from the ideas of others.

Sometimes they are holiday or event-themed.

โ€œIt is hard to keep coming up with material, but I do try,โ€ he says

He keeps posting his funny signs despite the difficulty.

โ€œI always get a big giggle out of it,โ€ Rozmiarek said. โ€œIt makes you feel good if you make a ton of people laugh.โ€

People liked the signs so much that Rozmiarek started a Facebook page for the signs with the help of Micahlynn Kaza.

That page now has more than 40,000 fans and was even on the front page of Reddit a few times.

โ€œItโ€™s quite hilarious, really, seeing how far the sign has spread and how much people love it,โ€ Kaza said. โ€œI think itโ€™s quickly becoming the โ€˜thingโ€™ Indian Hills is known for.โ€
