Anybody living with middle schoolers in the home knows how challenging it can be. They are at that age where they are just beginning to grow up and learn about how the world works, not to mention the onset of puberty.
With all those hormones raging, it’s understandable that the tweens might get a little irritable at times.
However, for comics, the kids’ growing pains are simply just another great source of new material.

No one does a better middle schooler impression than comedian Trey Kennedy.
He is a master of sketch comedy and his recent video titled “Middle Schoolers Be Like..” has been making waves all over the Internet. The reason being? It is simply hilarious. He does an impression of what it’s like to be a tween that is pretty much spot on and he covers all of the bases.
36 million-plus views don’t lie. If you are a parent of school-aged children, it’s something that you just have to check out. Kennedy will have you dying with laughter.

He starts the video by showcasing the challenges of getting out of bed in the morning.
His dad berates him for refusing to wake up and explains that if he doesn’t get moving immediately, he is going to be late for school. Kennedy tries to reason with the angry parent.
“Yes, I’m up. I’m up. I’m getting up. I’ll be down in five minutes,” Kennedy says.

Next, it flashes forward to the drive home after school.
Kennedy’s mom is asking him how his day went and about all of his classes. He is totally not having it. It’s like trying to talk to a brick wall. He gets visibly annoyed by the simple questions and refuses to answer with anything except for a one-word answer.
“Fine. Good. I Guess. I don’t know… How many questions are you going to ask me?” responds Kennedy.

The rest of the mini sketches are more of the same and they are all amazing.
Raising a tween means pretty much constant drama in the household, and over the course of the video, Kennedy touches on everything. From not wanting to do his homework to refusing to stop playing video games, it’s basically a constant battle between the kid and his parents.
The guy totally gets it. All of his impressions are spot on, and if you are a parent, we guarantee you have witnessed similar reactions from your kids before in your own household.

At one point, Kennedy’s mom asks him what he wants for dinner.
He simply shrugs his shoulders. His mom tells him, “Okay, I’ll make spaghetti.” This spurs a whole debate. Of course, the pretend middle schooler says he doesn’t want spaghetti. His mom asks him what he wants then. He says I don’t know.
All we could do was watch, shake our heads, and laugh. We have seen this exact same scene play out so many times before.

It can be so frustrating, but it’s good to be able to find humor in the moodiness and drama that having tweens entails. Really, we can’t blame them for acting that way. It’s part of growing up. Testing the boundaries with the parents is just what kids do as they get older.
At the very least, it provides a whole lot of new material for comedians like Kennedy. It doesn’t matter what generation you are from, this content is evergreen. Once you see the video for yourself, you’ll see what we mean.
