Patrick Spikes and his wife were hiding a huge secret: they were going to have a baby! They wanted to share the news with the rest of their family, but they wanted to make it a surprise somehow. Patrick and his wife decided to take advantage of Christmas by sharing the news when everyone was gathered together. They used the presents to unveil their big surprise. The couple’s family had no idea what was coming when they tore through the wrapping paper of three unique gifts.
The two revealed shared their news through customized t-shirts! The first to understand what was happening was the soon-to-be-aunt Kait. She smiled as she pulled the folded shirt out of the tissue paper. Intrigued, she quickly began unfolding it, holding it out before her eyes.
Suddenly, Kait gasped. She stared up at Patrick’s wife and was clearly excited for the woman. Her shirt read, “I love my aunt Kait.” She was thrilled to congratulate the pair on their pregnancy! The grandparents could not contain their curiosity – their eyes shot to Kait’s shirt. They figured out the surprise before they had even opened their own shirts!
“Shut up! No!” Kait screamed, and the whole family shouted with excitement. The women rushed up to hug the mom-to-be, while the future grandpa stayed in his seat, his eyes filling with tears of joy. The parents each loved their shirts, which read “best grandpa ever” and “my grandma is the coolest.”
The expecting couple were stoked to share their news with the whole family. “The reaction to the surprise is something that me and my wife will never forget!” Patrick explained. It is obvious by the way they support one another that this family is full of love.
