Have you ever felt thankful for being at the right place at the right time? Logan Simmons, a teenage worker at Chick-Fil-A, must have felt this way after jumping right out the drive-thru window of the restaurant to save a boy from choking to death. His act of kindness made him a hero and he deserves all the praises he’s getting for the courage and compassion that he showed that day.
It was a regular day at the Chick-Fil-A branch in Georgia and vehicles were lined up in the drive-thru lane.
Logan was at the window when something inside one of the vehicles caught his eye.
Everyone was shocked when the teenager suddenly jumped out of the window and ran towards a vehicle waiting in line.
Apparently, he caught sight of a six-year-old boy in the backseat of the car who was choking due to a seatbelt that was wrapped around his neck.
As soon as he got to the vehicle, Logan pulled out a pocket knife and cut the belt to free the boy from choking.
Everything that took place that day was fortunately recorded by a security camera starting from the moment Logan jumped through the window until the moment he saved the young boy’s life. Everything happened really fast and Logan still can’t believe what unfolded that day.
“I just jumped out the window and ran straight down to the car,” Logan told WSBTV. “I think it was the quickest option. It was right there and I saw the other car right there. I’m still kind of shocked right now myself that all this has happened.”
Things could have gotten worse if Logan hesitated and did not act as quickly as he did. He was absolutely there for a reason and the young boy and his family are very thankful for Logan’s quick thinking and immediate action to save someone’s life.
When Logan’s mother, Terri, heard about what her son did, she admitted that she was shocked to hear about her son being involved in a rescue.
“I’m amazed he didn’t panic. As his mother, I would have panicked. I’d be running around going, ‘Oh my gosh! What do we do?’” she told WSBTV.
Logan realizes the gravity of his actions and admits that he does feel like a hero after saving the boy’s life. He also feels grateful that he had the chance to help in the said emergency.
“I’m just so thankful everyone is okay,” he said. “As soon as I realized what was going on, all I could think about was getting to the car as quickly as possible, so I jumped through the window. I’m still a little shocked by what happened, but I’m grateful I was able to help.”
Saving someone else’s life and not thinking twice about it is certainly admirable. Logan showed just how much compassion and selflessness can do in our lives.
If not for his quick thinking and genuine concern for someone that he does not even know, the young boy could have injured himself or worse, lost his life.
Watching the security footage showing Logan’s bravery and kindness really gave me the chills and made me realize how much a simple act can affect another person’s life. What he did is truly inspiring and once you watch the video below, you will surely feel inspired, too.
