A father is known to be the most formidable link in the family. They are expected to be strong, authoritative, disciplinarian, and firm at all times.
But that’s just another misconception about fathers because fatherhood doesn’t follow a specific blueprint.
Sometimes, a father can also be a little soft and silly.
In the name of love, a father would literally do everything – even being a “cheer dad.”
A TikTok video showing a father’s love went viral after earning more than 350,000 views. The man in the video was Andrè Simmons, a proud father who decided to show his unparalleled support to his child.
Simmons is a father to five wonderful children, but he is often away for work because he serves as an infantryman.
The video was taken by his wife, Cecelia, who later decided to upload the adorable video on social media.
The beautiful moment was taken during a football game where Simmon’s 15-year-old daughter, Jazlyn, was cheerfully dancing together with her Temple High School cheer team.
“Everyone always asks Andrè Simmons about the boys continuing his football legacy little do they know he’s waited his whole life to be a cheer dad,” she wrote.
Raise your hand to the left and right, jump, hop, and move it side-to-side!
“Once I got it down pat, I just jumped up there when I heard the band finally bring the song up and I got up there and did it with her,” the proud “cheer dad” said.
Simmons couldn’t care any less if people would laugh at him.
He simply wanted to make up for all the time lost while he was away from his family.
He also admitted he doesn’t have some dance moves to brag about but he’d do it again and again to create more beautiful memories with Jazlyn.
“I love to try to be super dad when I’m here and create those lifelong memories and it’s something for us to look back on and enjoy together,” Simmons said.
An instant internet star!
Nobody, including Simmons and his family, expected the video to attract that much attention on social media.
Simmons and his wife just wanted to immortalize that beautiful moment and share it online.
“The reaction honestly, as far as everyone else goes, is amazing. I did the video not anticipating it, you know, getting as big. I just did it for my daughter, like essentially just trying to make up for lost time because I’m in the military. You know, joining her in something she loves and to pretty much have a life-long memory with her,” Simmons told 6 News.
The online community loved every bit of this “cheer dad.”
One TikTok user wrote in the comments, “He is making memories. She will never forget this!! Priceless Memories!! Go CheerDAD!! He didn’t miss one step!”
Simmons promised to continue cheering, be the best “cheer dad” for Jazlyn, and make more unforgettable memories with her.
