One way is very popular with beginner dancers because there isn’t any pressure to be amazing, and that is line dancing. In this video, we see twelve ladies line dance to Alan Jackson’s “Chattahoochee,” and it is a sight to see!
What is line dancing?
Line dancing is a choreographed dance with a repeated sequence in steps that a group of people dances in one or more lines or rows. They all face each other or the same way and execute the dance at the same time, with no physical contact with each other.
Line dancing became popular in the 1970s and is mainly done to country/western music. There is a lot of debate if it came from contemporary disco or historical folk dances, but there are many types of line dancing, so they probably came from both! In the south, if you go to a bar, you’re more than likely going to see some line dancing.
The ladies in this video sure know what they’re doing.
The video starts with the song starting and the ladies doing a synchronized dance with mainly their feet. They’re all wearing matching outfits, and it fits the theme very well, primarily because of their cowgirl hats and their cowgirl boots.
Although most of the dancing is used with their feet, they are taking some intervals to tap their foot with their hand. They also do a lot of clapping, but when they’re not clapping, they all rest their hands in the same position, even that is synchronized like their footwork.
Hats off to these ladies, they’re line dancing moves are incredible and are inspiring to pick up line dancing for ourselves! Cowboy boots aren’t required, but they sure are recommended.
Alan Jackson’s “Chattahoochee” is one of the best songs to line dance to
Alan Jackson wrote the “Chattahoochee” from inspiration from the real Chattahoochee River in Georgia. However, the song is really about growing up in a small town and having fun. When this song came out, everyone wanted to line dance to it.
The Chattahoochee River is known to be beautiful, and Alan Jackson’s song is not the only thing written about it. Country music always includes gorgeous scenery, such as the Chattahoochee River, and beautiful memories because of places like this.
When they finish a sequence, the ladies switch directions.
With line dancing, when you finish a certain amount of steps, you turn to the other direction and repeat it, and these ladies do it flawlessly. Line dancing is also great to do because you can do it with anyone and not have to touch them, which can sometimes be pressuring.
These ladies embody the song perfectly, and they make line dancing look easy. Line dancing would be a fun type of dance to learn because it is mainly footwork so that you could do it anywhere!
The ladies also look like they’re having a great time, as you can see plenty of them smiling while doing this dance. These ladies don’t miss a beat, no wonder this video has nine million views!
