Estonian artist Igor Loskutow has a knack for making wonderful works of art using wood and chainsaws. An award-winning master sculpture from Germany, Loskutow is a member of the Husqvarna chainsaw team. The team travels all over Europe where they show off their skills sculpting using the chainsaw.
The sculptures latest piece is a masterpiece wood sculpture, a dragon bench of immense proportions.
An Incredible Chainsaw Creation
Mainly using chainsaws, hammers, and chisels, Loskutow carved the piece in 2017. The bench is similar to a piece that he cut earlier in the year. That bench was cut from red-tinged wood, giving the sculpted piece a fiery red look as it showed through the mocha color of the finished product. Loskutow won the 2015 Huskyworld World Title for his sculptures.
How Loskutow Created the Bench
Loskutow uses large chainsaws when creating his artwork, which he began carving in 2002. With the dragon bench, he started with the headpiece and the tail, carving out the basic shape of the dragon. Before proceeding to the seat, he carved in many of the small details on the headpiece.
The Rest of the Bench
After finishing the details on the head and tail, Loskutow next cut the details of the wings. He also carved the clawed arm which is visible on the bench. He even added some claw marks to give the claws a more realistic look. Finally, he polished the seat of the bench and added any final touches.

Here are some more of this dragon sculptures. Notice the fine details that he is able to achieve using a large chainsaw, truly a sign of his mastery of the medium. To get the finest detail, Loskutow also utilizes chisels and hammers.
Here is a picture of the other bench carved carved out of the red-tinged wood. Notice how the red shows through, giving the bench a red cast through the darker color of the stain. The overall look of the headpiece is slightly different, as well as the tail, which goes straight out instead of curving around.
