Everyone loves Celine Dion. She is one of the greatest female singers of all time and everyone can appreciate the amazing quality of her voice. Looking back at her long and fruitful career, one of our favorite songs of hers is the duet she did with Barbra Streisand.
The song entitled “Tell Him” first appeared on Dion’s album Let’s Talk About Love which was produced by Columbia Records. Later that year, the song was also included on Streisand’s album Higher Ground, and the track instantly shot to the top of the charts, becoming a top ten hit in both Europe and Australia.
The music video of their epic performance is something that you just have to see for yourself.
Part of the beauty of it is how it shows the actual recording of the song itself.
It is a music video in its purest form. For over four minutes, the video simply switches back and forth between Dion and Streisand as they alternate singing the verses of the song.
The two have such amazing chemistry and their voices complement each others’ so perfectly too.
At one point in the video, they can both be seen dancing around the studio, completely losing themselves in the music, and it is heartwarming to watch. You can clearly see the passion on the two women’s faces and hear it in their voices.
It is also a song that everyone can identify with, with the theme revolving around how difficult it can be to tell someone you love them.
I’m scared

It is one of the most common fears in a relationship.
You want to show you care, but you also don’t want to be judged for opening up your heart too quickly. What if you find out that they actually don’t love you back? You would feel so silly for saying it. However, ultimately, you’re going to have to “Tell Him”.
Tell him that the sun and moon
Rise in his eyes
Reach out to him
And whisper
Tender words so soft and sweet
When Dion and Streisand join together to sing the chorus, it is such a powerful moment.
The lyrics touch something in our hearts that everyone has felt before, which is part of what makes the song so great.
“Love will be the gift you give yourself,” Streisand sings.
Something else that is really cool about the song is how the two singers performed it during their concerts.
Obviously, Dion and Streisand couldn’t both tour together forever, yet fans were totally in love with the track and always wanted them to perform it. They came up with a crazy solution. Dion actually performed the song live on her Let’s Talk About Love tour with Streisand as a hologram!
We would have loved to have been there at one of those concerts back in the day. It must have been so neat to see, especially since it was back in the time period when digital stuff like holograms were still just new and emerging technologies.
However, at least we have the video of the studio recording of their duet to watch. And watch it we will — over and over and over again! It is such a lovely performance.
