It was love at first meow, a typical story of boy cat meets girl cat. Though Bostonian cat Sophie wasn’t smitten by her beau Scottie at first, Scottie’s attempts to woo the black and white rescue cat eventually won her over.

This love story began in 2014 when Sophie was adopted by Christiana Viscusi.

Scottie, a handsome orange, and white cat, was never the same after he spotted Sophie while she was out for a stroll through the neighborhood with Viscusi a few months after her adoption.

Scottie couldn’t take his eyes off her but, being the gentlemanly cat that he is, he kept his distance.

And who could blame him? Look how pretty she is!

Even so, Scottie kept his distance.

“I remember when I first started taking her out on the leash, Scottie would come over and watch from across the lawn or driveway without coming too close,” Viscusi told Love Meow.

Scottie would always plop himself down within eye’s view of Sophie but he never came over to say hi.

And Sophie didn’t show the least bit of interest Scottie. After all, a girl’s got to play hard to get.

“Sophie was too busy for him… but soon he became bolder and would sit closer like he was waiting for an invite to join in,” Viscusi explained. “Sophie didn’t seem to mind he was there as long as she didn’t have to pay much attention to him.”

Eventually, Scottie worked up the nerve to make his move and introduce himself. Soon after that, Sophie came to look forward to seeing Scottie on her walks.

“His persistence started paying off and soon Sophie came to expect him on her adventures and allowed him to sit with her,” Viscusi said.

These two love cats have become completely obsessed with each other and would look forward to their daily encounters. The first thing that Viscusi would do in the morning is open the porch door so Sophie could look outside for her love.

“Many mornings Scottie is sitting on his driveway looking up and they watch each other,” she explains. “If Scottie sees us sitting on the porch from his lawn he walks over, politely uses the sidewalk, and waits hoping for her to come down.”

The two were basically inseparable love twinsies. Scottie basically just followed Sophie around, following her lead, and doing everything that she does.

If Sophie was watching the bird bath, guess who else is too? No matter what she did when she was outside, Scottie was right there by her side.

“They are so cute together,” Viscusi says.

They would get together every night to watch the hedge and patrol the yard. If you would see Sophie, Scottie wouldn’t be far behind. Scottie even cried at Viscusi’s door for Sophie to come out and play.

Fine. You can hang out while I watch this birds nest, just CALM DOWN.

“Scottie really is the cutest ‘boy next door’ neighbor,” Viscusi says. “All he ever really wanted was to join in and be pals… Well… and maybe a quick kiss.”

Unfortunately, Sophie passed away in June but her and Scottie’s love will surely live on.
