The 1960s were an amazing time. While I (clearly) was not born early enough to experience them, photographs, songs, and videos show an era devoted to creativity, love, friendshipโ€” and some freaking great music!

A few years ago, during Carrie Underwoodโ€™s televised Holiday Special, she invited Christina Applegate and Kristin Chenoweth for a special viewer surprise.

Little did we know that the three women had planned a 1960s medleyโ€” complete with classic, retro tunes; pink, puffy dresses, and some impeccable, blonde beehives!

Before the performance, the 3 women are seen sitting at a table and engaging in some pre-performance banter. Underwood tells Applegate and Chenoweth:

โ€œI had this great idea. I thought we could like, a tribute to 60s girl groups, and with big, pink dresses, and you know, beehives?โ€

While the women donโ€™t seem too keen on the idea, at the mention of Dolly Parton, Applegate and Chenoweth are quickly ready and willing!

The scene then shifts to a stage lit by blue-hued lights, and we see the three women emerge in their pink, strapped dresses and smooth, blonde beehivesโ€”complete with the matching bows!

As they sashay across the stage, Underwood begins to sing the Ronetteโ€™s classic 1965 hit, โ€œBe My Babyโ€.

โ€œThe night we met I knew I need you so, and if I had the chance, Iโ€™d never let you goโ€ฆโ€

After the women sing a few verses, the stage lights suddenly shift from blue to red, and Carole Kingโ€™s โ€œWill You Love Me Tomorrowโ€ plays, with Applegate singing:

โ€œTonight youโ€™re mine, completelyโ€ฆโ€

The women once again sing a few verses. Their uniquely distinct voices create a wonderful, melodic effect.

Then, the background of the stage shifts again, and the women surprise us with another classic hitโ€” The Crystalsโ€™ โ€œThen He Kissed Meโ€.

After skipping around in choreographed circles, Applegate begins crooning:

โ€œWell, he walked up to me and he asked me if I wanted to dance; he looked kind of nice and so I said I might take a chanceโ€ฆโ€

Just when you think Underwoodโ€™s powerful voice will be the ending note of the performance, she puts her hands on her hips.

Then, the music shifts for a fourth and final time, and we are hit with the opening lines of The Shangri-Lasโ€™ โ€œLeader of the Packโ€.

โ€œIs she really going out with him?โ€
โ€œWell, there she is, letโ€™s ask herโ€ฆโ€
