It’s no secret that you don’t need a large home or need to spend a fortune to create an extremely cozy and warm place to live and spend some time in, as we’ve seen before with this amazing garage home transformation.
The fourteen-year-old teen Ellie Yeater did something that can be considered as the ultimate DIY-project and created an even more impressive transformation.
Ellie, from West Virginia, had some free time in the summer and she decided to spend most of her days renovating an old camper from 1974.
The teen declared the end goal as a “glamper”, instead of just a regular camper. The motivated 14-year-old had saved up $500 for her goal to buy a camper, as she amassed the money from birthdays and several chores. Ellie’s mom describes her as an “out-of-the-box kinda kid”. It certainly doesn’t sound like Ellie didn’t want to get her hands dirty.
For a price of $200, she found a camper in a classifieds paper. Ellie used the rest of her saved up budget to gather materials for the renovation including paint, flooring, fabric and of course some interior items and other decorations. Luckily, her dad decided to throw a little cash in himself to get Ellie a wood and rubber roof roll.
The seemingly low price did come with a cost, as there was plenty of work to be done.
“It needed work… lots of work,” Lori said.
The Yeater family has a special connection with the outside. They live on a large 60-acre ground, and Ellie’s brother Isaiah actually already built his own little spot by building a small cabin where he and his friends would hang out.
This is where Ellie got her inspiration from, although she wanted her project to be cuter and also made sure that it would be strategically placed close to the home, in order to stay in range of the Wi-Fi signal and have access to electricity. Ellie has definitely got her priorities straight.
Before Ellie could start with decorating and renovating, the camper had to be cleaned out thoroughly. Her grandfather Lawrence was more than happy to help her out with carpentry and painting.
Afterward, the plans for the more cute stuff could begin. Ellie chose an adorable pastel-style color scheme of pink and blue and made sure to paint almost everything inside the cabin to give it a unique identity.
It wasn’t only the paint that made a huge difference, as Ellie also installed a completely new floor alongside new furniture and self-made curtains. Of course, decorating the place with a bunch of personal belongings was a given.
Just outside of the camper, a small pathway was also installed.
“I love that the path isn’t straight,” Lori said, “just like life.”
Grandpa helped with the rough renovation work, but Ellie’s grandmother was also willing to lend a hand. She gave Ellie a bunch of small items that blended in perfectly with the “glamper” style.
This fourteen-year-old teen saved up enough money to build the ultimate cozy place for herself and her friends, and we have to admit, the end result is truly astonishing.
A brilliantly creative talent!
