When you put your 6-year-old to sleep at night, you might expect him to wake up from a bad dream or hear him fussing and crying.
But you definitely don’t expect to find him running and jumping around the living room at 2 a.m. This is what Cody Wray discovered when he watched some of the video footage from the security cameras he had recently installed in his house.
These parents from Florida have some pretty strict rules in regards to touching the furniture and continuously teach their children to be respectful of people’s property, including their own. They had set strict rules that no jumping or running around was to be allowed in the house.
Cody works hard to keep his family safe and cares about them very much. The father, who works in the IT security industry, was so concerned about the safety of his family that he had installed a couple of security cameras around the house prior to the incident. As he went over the night’s footage, he did definitely not expect to find his son on there. He couldn’t believe his eyes.
Everyone knows that kids do all kinds of things when no one is watching, but some definitely get more creative than others.
Cody quickly realized that his son Dylan had found a sneaky alternative to doing all the things that were forbidden to him during the day. The little boy was seen on camera turning the lights on and off, jumping on the couch, running around the living room, and even doing flips and cartwheels.
The 6-year-old eventually realized that he was being filmed and quickly turned off the camera, but not before it was able to get a clear closeup of his face. He then unplugged the security camera, which is the reason why Cody became suspicious and decided to watch the footage in the first place. Having always been concerned about the safety of his house and family, it was unlike Cody to not plug in his security devices. Therefore, he decided to go through hours of video footage in order to figure out why the camera was unplugged.
Ghosts? Robbers? Or maybe just your hyper, energetic child who decided that 2 a.m. is a good time for shenanigans?
Cody quickly found his answer.
Dylan had told his parents multiple times that he sometimes woke up at 2 a.m., but his parents did not take him seriously. They thought that he was just waking up a few minutes early before his usual wakeup time, and he was probably just being a kid and exaggerating about the circumstances.
Children tend to have intense imaginations, and Dylan’s parents, therefore, did not think much of it.
They never imagined that Dylan was actually being serious! They will definitely keep a closer eye on their son’s nightly activities from now on and make sure he gets a full night of sleep.
After watching the video, Cody wasn’t sure whether he was supposed to be angry with Dylan or enjoy the fact that his son gave him the best laugh of his entire life.
“You want to be mad at him since he’s jumping on our brand-new couches, but he’s just so cute,” Cody recently told ABC News. “Every time we watch, it’s still hysterical,” he said, and he eventually decided to share the video online.
