Bus-ting The Quarantine
The coronavirus has halted a lot of our normal day-to-day activities. It has wreaked havoc in many the lives of the younger generations, especially students who strive to accomplish great academic achievements. Thankfully, people have always been resilient in the face of adversity and know how to combat these situations with grace.
Such was the case in Ohio when Loveland High School’s transportation department organized a total of 22 buses to showcase the number “2020” from an aerial view. It was an incredibly kindhearted act to appreciate and honor the students for going through these tumultuous times and still having the grit to surpass the pressure and accomplish their goal of graduating.
Students have to face a lot of the inadequacies that involve the modern-day trials of COVID-19. These struggles are coupled with online schooling for most, which can be rather difficult for those trying to adjust to the new teaching method. Also, the fact of not being able to celebrate graduation physically takes away from the experience of having that moment shine in one’s life as they look back.
It really has been a trying time for students all around the globe. The Loveland High School community is truly lucky to have amazing people to make sure these students feel like they have the right backing from those who care the most.
One such person is the school’s art and photography teacher, Jim Barret, utilized an aerial drone to film the captivating scene. The drone began slowly panning out and you can see the buses waving happily to the sky as they grouped up in a circle. The images and pictures were later shared to uplift the 392 graduating students. As it turns out, the drivers knew many of them since their time beginning grade school.
“Some of us have been around long enough to transport these kids since kindergarten, and some of us have only been working with the district for a few years, but the one thing we all have in common is the love for our students,” said Jennifer Bloom Bowman, a bus driver from Loveland High. “This is a huge accomplishment and anyway we can show them some love, we will do it. So here’s to the Class of 2020. Your bus drivers are proud of all of you.”
Support For Students
Another picture showed a bus filled with the school staff including teachers and coordinators alike demonstrating their wonderful support for the kids. It’s truly a sight to see in a time when the students need that reassurance from those who have been with us since the beginning. It gives them a breath of fresh air and pushes them to achieve even greater heights in the future.
The video was posted on social media and has received thousands of views for its kind message.
Michele Winter, another bus driver, mentioned, “The love for our students is unconditional and each one will always hold a special place in our hearts. Every story, every hug, every laugh and every tear with them are memories and sometimes even lessons. To the kids of the past, the present and the future, this is for you!”
The quarantine hasn’t been easy for most, however, we can at least be thankful that these students got the support they did. The help starts with the local community and building the foundational blocks to inspire a generation to move forward with determination.
