Steve and His Band Start Their Performance
Toe Tapping Music
Those performing with Steve were right in tune and were keeping their rhythm with some toe-tapping. Nothing compared to what was going to happen next.
An Addition To The Stage
As the band got about three-quarters of the way through their performance they were joined by a clogger.
A Shaking Good Time
As he buck danced his way from one side of the stage to the other the whole place was shaking. You could almost see the stage move.
A Grand Ending To A Grand Performance
The fellow that brought such delight to the performance obviously has been doing this for some time. He was a real crowd-pleaser. The band did not seem to mind at all that he was stealing the show.
A Fan
Viewers who get to enjoy this performance can thank an individual in the audience who was quick enough to capture it all on video.
Steve Gully
Steve is a great musician and has made quite a name for himself. He has released several albums such as “Sounds Like More” and “Family Friends and Fellowship”. He has several YouTube videos on the go.
Buck Dancing
The dancer who put on quite a show was buck dancing which is a form of clog dancing. It is a type of stomp dancing where the dancer simply follows the beat of the music. It is usually done to toe stomping instruments like the fiddle. This guy knew exactly what he was doing. With the force of the foot-stomping it means having a sturdy surface to perform on. This fellow although tall and lean he still had enough power to actually shake the barn floor.
It’s Quite An Art
Buck dancing is so enjoyable. Not only for those who perform it but for those who get to watch it. It is typical to see this type of dancing at bluegrass festivals. These festivals are typically held outdoors. Which means there is not a great surface for this type of foot-stomping. To accommodate the dancers there are often sections of plywood laid down so they can go about their business. At some of these events, the buck dancers will actually give lessons to those who want to learn it.
Uplifting and Fun
Bluegrass music on its own is enough to give anybody a lift. When it is highlighted with some buck dancing it is difficult for anyone to remain seated.
