Everyone wants their wedding to be special — especially the bride. It’s one of the biggest, most important days of their life. Often, brides often try and think of creative ways to make their wedding day stand apart from the rest.
A bride named Mary Holand Tosse, from Norway, came up with an idea to make their wedding day truly unique. Her groom had no idea what was coming.
Mary’s fiancé, Ronny Eidsvik, was waiting at the altar while his soon-to-be-wife was preparing to enter the room behind beautiful wooden doors. When the doors open, the entire room turns to see the bride in her gorgeous gown.
The organ plays as Mary enters the room, walking down the aisle with her father. The church is filled with family and friends as they listen to the traditional wedding processional song played in the background.
Suddenly, the bride reveals a hidden microphone in one hand, while holding her bouquet in the other. She begins to sing “You Raise Me Up.”
The popular song was originally written by the Irish-Norwegian duo Secret Garden. However, it’s been covered hundreds of times, even by Josh Groban. The song is now used as a contemporary hymn in churches across the United Kingdom.
Ronny watches his bride come toward him, singing in perfect pitch. A live horn section accompanies the bride. He is clearly touched, and the crowd was visibly impressed. Everyone’s eyes were locked on the beautiful bride. It was such a lovely surprise.
Mary’s impromptu performance wasn’t going to be the only surprise of the day. Mary’s dad grabs the microphone from his daughter.
The bride can’t help but giggle and her dad’s adorable performance. A giggle of adoration and she looks up at her father as he sings. It’s absolutely incredible and so very touching. It will be a moment that’s remembered for a lifetime.
Background singers in the balcony begin to belt out the crescendo of the song, and the whole room is filled with warmth and love. Everyone in the room is starting to tear up at this point. This wasn’t just a wedding ceremony — it was an entire production.
It’s a wedding for the history books. The beautiful and talented bride stunned her groom and everyone in the room that day.
