Bride Jemma has worked behind the scenes to provide her groom with a not to be forgotten first dance.
As the venue begins to prepare for the first dance, Jay, the groom, never notices that the wait staff has been infiltrated with a few people who are only masquerading as wait staff!
Now, on the dance floor at Black Hall on Stoney Lane, in Ongar, UK, the first dance begins, and Jay proves he has some moves, twirling his new bride around the floor.
And Jemma, being a professional dancer herself, follows those moves with ease.
Until they are interrupted by one of the masquerading waitresses.
Historically speaking at least, that first dance as a couple symbolizes the consummation of the wedding ceremony.
As they dance together for the first time as man and wife, their guests are treated to a view of how they work together and cooperate with one another.
Within the last century or so, and certainly still in our day, it was and is customary for the guests of honor at a formal ball, or the bride and groom at a wedding, to begin the dancing.
Regardless, the first dance is typically considered to be a moment full of romance and wonder. And in some ways, the dance may be thought of as a continuation of the ceremony itself, when the couple shared their vows before their friends and family.
Today, a lot of brides aren’t so steeped in tradition. They are unique in every way and want the celebration of their wedding to reflect that.
Jemma clearly fits this description, as you will see in a moment because it turns out the bride was in on the little plan the whole time.
The groom clearly looks surprised, but not Jemma who has a surprise up her sleeves.
Now, one of the masquerading wait staff steps in.
She says, “You know Jay, that was a really good effort… He was really good, right? But you know, the thing is, if Jemma is a professional, you know what I’m saying? He’s really good, but you’ve just got to sit in the crowd and watch your new wife show you how it’s done.”
At this point, Jay is led off the floor and one more “waitress” joins in.
And Jemma, clearly reflecting the joy of the day alongside her fellow Club Mob dancers, proceeds to show her husband her moves.
Dancing to a playlist of “Everything” by Michael Buble, “Run The World” by Beyonce, “Sax” by Fleur East, “Vogue” by Madonna, and “Finesse” by Bruno Mars while her husband, family, and friends looked on, she owns her day.
In a full wedding dress, she took center stage—exactly where a bride should be on her wedding day!—and completed this epic dance routine.
What did Jay think about all of this?
Well, all we can go on is his expression. I’d say he was very pleased with how his first dance with his new wife turned out!
