For many people, one of the most important parts of getting married is having all of your friends and family there with you. It’s not just about the love between you and your partner, it’s about everyone who loves you coming together in one place, celebrating happily and making magical memories you can all look back on for years to come.

Unfortunately, there are some situations in life where people just can’t make it to your big day, for one reason or another.

Stasia was 102 years old and had just gone into hospice care. She desperately wanted to see her granddaughter, Tara, get married, but her heart was weak and she couldn’t run the risk of taking a flight out to Texas for the big day.

So Tara and Stasia decided to do something special, meeting up in secret, ahead of the wedding.

Tara wore her wedding dress so that Stasia could see exactly how she’d look on the big day, and the pair posed for some beautiful photos together. Tara’s family had no idea about this photoshoot, but they were going to find out in the most wonderful way, a little while later.

The photos taken are simply inspiring and so heartwarming. We can really see and feel the love this grandma and granddaughter share for one another.

It was so kind of Tara to go and visit her grandma, taking the time to get her hair and makeup done for the occasion, and Stasia was thrilled by it all.

She kept looking at me and grabbing my cheeks and kissing me and telling me how beautiful I was and how much she loved me.

Sadly, just a few weeks after the photoshoot, Stasia passed away. It was the last time Tara ever saw her.

When I said goodbye to her that night, I think we both knew it would be the last time we would see each other. She grabbed my cheeks with her hands, looked me straight in the eye and said ‘I love you very much’ and 27 days later she passed away.

Tara bravely kept the secret photos hidden away, waiting for her wedding to arrive before surprising her whole family with them. The family all wanted Stasia to be there for the wedding, and thanks to Tara’s photos, it felt like she really was.

Again, a photographer was on hand to capture this magical moment as the family broke down in tears upon seeing the beautiful images.

Stasis may not have lived long enough to be with Tara when she said “I do”, but she was there in spirit, and everyone who attended the wedding got to see these wonderful photos of a loving grandma and a granddaughter who will never forget her.

As Tara wrote when sharing the images on Facebook: “She was beyond an amazing woman! I love you Nana, always and forever!”
