When it comes to witty responses, Melanie Dudley is one mom who will dish them out at a moment’s notice.

The young mom was nursing her infant son when an uncomfortable man approached her with a request to go on and “cover up”. While the man’s request is nothing new in light of the hot debate about public breastfeeding, it was the mom’s response that has the entire internet chuckling.

A creative thinker with an awesome sense of humor, Dudley did exactly as she was asked and covered up by throwing the baby blanket over her head…her own head!

The debate over breastfeeding in public has been burning hot for decades now. Regardless of the fact the practice is as natural as breathing, healthier for mom and child, and is as old as humanity itself, people continue to be appalled when confronted with a child nursing at its mother’s breast.

Melanie Dudley, like many moms, is sick and tired of it!

Dudley is a third-time mother that has had more than her fill of the relentless “mom-shaming” when it comes to being able to conveniently and safely feed her child. Unfortunately, while she and her family were out for lunch in Cabo San Lucas, she was forced to face it anyway.

As Dudley and her family were dining, her baby son started getting hungry, too. Of course, the experienced mom had a baby blanket at the ready and, in fact, was originally covered up. If you’ve ever been to Cabo, though, then you know just how HOT it can be!

In an interview with Today, the quick-witted mom explained that, in light of how hot it was and that she was simply trying to enjoy her family vacation, she decided to give her baby some air and remove the blanket.

“I did have the cover on, but it was so hot. It was like, 95 degrees, and my little baby was sweating. I said, ‘You know what? I’m on vacation, I’m taking this off,’” she recalls.

While Dudley was well within her rights and wasn’t doing anything to intentionally offend anyone when she uncovered her nursing baby’s head, a gentleman from a nearby party still walked up to her and asked her to “cover up”. Considering that Dudley made sure to seat herself in the far back of the restaurant and had only had her son’s head uncovered for a moment, the man was going out of his way to be offended by the nursing mom.

“I was on vacation in Cabo San Lucas with my entire family and a man asked me to cover myself. I’m usually discreet, but we were seated in the back of the restaurant,” she explains to Yahoo

In utter disbelief at the outrageous request considering the heat, Dudley asked her husband to pass her something she could cover up with. That’s when the hilarious mom threw the baby blanket over her own head, making sure it was completely covered.

“I just put it over my head. I don’t know why. It wasn’t like a salacious fight or anything. That was just my response. I had no words so I thought, I’ll just cover my head instead,” she tells Today.

That’s when her hubby snapped a quick photo to commemorate his wife’s priceless response.

He sent the humorous picture to his mom who promptly posted it to Facebook. It wasn’t up long before a friend asked if she could share the picture to the world, and she did with a caption that said it all.

Please SHARE this with your friends and family.

“A friend’s daughter-in-law was told to “cover up” while feeding her baby, so she did!🤣 I’ve never met her, but I think she’s AWESOME!!! (Please share! With permission, I’ve made this post public — I’m SO over people shaming women for nursing!!!❤️👶❤️
[PS: To reduce speculation: it was a man who asked her to cover up, it was 90 degrees and extremely humid, and, no, she wasn’t in a Muslim country disrespecting traditions.🙄]” the caption reads.

Within less than a week of the post going public, it was shared well over 200,000 times by like-minded people.

There were, of course, plenty mom-shamers foaming at the mouth with outrage at a mother publicly nursing her baby. However, the number of people sending shout-outs of praise for her laughable response was far more overwhelming than that of the internet haters, proving once again that the Mama Bear always wins!
