Edi Okoro wanted to make his proposal special. So instead of planning it, he proposed over and over again, taking pictures as he did, seeing if she would ever find out!

Most of us can hardly get our boyfriends to even think about proposing. But that isn’t the case for Cally Read. Where her Edi is concerned, she was the one lagging behind. Mr. Edi Okoro will inspire any woman waiting with their hands up singing, “if you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it.”

You see, Edi proposed various times over a four-week long period. The only catch is…Cally didn’t see it! “I can finally put this out there 😂,” Edi Okoro of the United Kingdom says in his Facebook post.

“Those who have gone through this (and those who will soon find out) you want to propose in a way that speaks to you as a person and couple. Some plan a flash mob, a fancy meal, or even arrange a marry me sign. I couldn’t do this because “Edi doesn’t plan, I’m a spontaneous improviser!”

“This made it even more of a challenge because Cally knows this, and the moment I planned a holiday or meal she would have clocked on to what I was about to do.” What’s the opposite of planning? Trying to propose on the spot without your girlfriend noticing!

Turns out, Edi had a lot more fun hiding the proposal than actually proposing. Cally was not the most observant girlfriend. The reason? She trusts her man! “Because of this, I took the ring with me everywhere hoping the “moment” would arise in line with my spontaneous style.”

“After a month or so of waiting for the right moment, I was sitting on the sofa admiring “my precious” (yes I became very attached to this ring by this point) Cally almost caught me staring at the ring, and it hit me!….All these missed opportunities mixed in with the thought – Cally doesn’t know I have the ring!! I should just start documenting these moments!”

After this “aha” moment, Edi decided to take as many secret photos that he could without her noticing. The ring hiding in plain sight in each one. The story would be that he would start with not so daring photos before slowing moving towards obvious ones.

By now, you’ve probably fallen in love with this couple. “We met at athletics,” Edi said. “We both competed at a very high level and traveled to competitions together. Both also ran for Birchfield Harriers AC. I knew she was the one after I realized our conversations didn’t dry up and we bounced off each other.”

As Edi got more daring, things got riskier. This binocular shot was a close one. And the rest of the time, since he didn’t carry a purse like his girlfriend, he had to put the box in his pocket. Thankfully, she didn’t think it was a ring. What did she think it was? We’ll never know.

By now you’re probably wondering how things turned out. If he posted this online, she must know by now. Well, it happened! “She didn’t know about this library until several weeks later. My smile is a “you know nothing Cally Read” smile”
