Is there anything sweeter than puppy love? Everyone remembers their first childhood crush and the feelings they brought up. There’s a sense of wonder and disbelief when looking at this person, an angelic being sent down from Heaven as the epitome of beauty and grace. You love their hair, and their eyes, and the way they say your name. You’d do anything to make them smile and you never want to see them get hurt.
In this video, these feelings are marvelously expressed by a little boy who rushes to save the day when he sees his crush being “attacked” by a much bigger man.
The adorable, 50-second video was filmed during a children’s martial arts class. No one knows exactly where it was recorded, but it was originally broadcast via America’s Funniest Home Videos, later being uploaded to YouTube where it has since gone viral.
During the video, you see a girl with a long blonde ponytail sparring with a karate master.
As can be expected during a class, the older man is challenging the little girl, trying to see what she’s got. However, if you look very closely, at about 20-seconds in, you’ll see a boy, sitting in the other group, turn around to observe what is going on— and when he sees his crush being “attacked”, he is not very happy.
The little fighter, intent on saving his damsel in distress, immediately rises from his circle and rushes over. Clad in his helmet and kickboxing gloves, he’s ready to show the man who’s boss.
Coming seemingly out of nowhere, the little boy runs full-force towards the big, “bad” man. When he gets close enough, he raises his little glove.
And gives him a hero-sized punch!
You see the little girl cover her mouth, surprised by her savior’s actions.
Then with a stern look of defiance, the little hero walks off with his shoulders puffed.
When the parents in the class realize what has happened, they have trouble stifling their laughs of surprise.
Everyone from the instructors to the children is cracking up, and the entire room bursts into a round of applause.
As mentioned, the adorable footage was originally featured on America’s Funniest Home Videos. However, it was later uploaded to the Kyoot YouTube channel where it has since garnered more than 4.5 MILLION views.
While it has not been confirmed that the blonde girl is indeed the little boy’s crush, it’s a scenario that more than a few viewers have imagined. A few of the top comments read:
“And they lived happily ever after”
“Maybe she was his crush?”
Others have referred to the boy’s actions as heroic, noting that other men should definitely do the same.
“And thus a hero was born.”
“Good job, kid!”
“Now that’s how ‘A Gentleman’ is supposed to be..!”
Despite the fact that martial arts are considered a fighting sport, Mary, a mother of two says, “It’s a very common misconception that it causes aggression.” In fact, as Jordan Weiss from New York University explains, “Martial artists are, for the most part, concerned with becoming better people and reducing violence in them and society”— something this little boy demonstrates dazzlingly!
