Although television these days is often called a golden age of TV, or even a Second Golden Age of Television, boomers know that the original golden age was during their childhood. During the 1950s, when tv sets first started appearing commonly in family homes, the shows that aired set the standard for future shows. Baby Boomers got to grow up watching some of the best shows ever, and many of the plotlines and gags became inspiration for the television we watch today. Fortunately, we have just the quiz to help you remember how good TV used to be.

The experience of having a television set in your home was new, and it became an event. Boomers definitely remember a time when Mom, Dad, and any siblings would crowd around a TV set after dinner to watch whatever was on the three channels available.

While streaming may be a welcome upgrade in many ways (not having to fight over the channel, not worrying about missing the season finale) there is something to be said for the time spent watching those black and white shows of a baby boomers childhood.

Early TV shows inspired us.

Who didn’t want to be as adventurous as “The Beaver” Cleaver? Who else looked as Ricky and Lucy and wish for a marriage that had as much laughter in it? No matter what you were watching, 1950s TV showed us possibilities that we hadn’t considered up until that point.
