Prom proposals are often fun, yet nerve-racking affairs for those involved. They make up a pivotal part of the high school experience, often forming lasting memories for all parties. They can manifest in a variety of unique ways, while the best are often unforeseen or wholly untried.
People come up with all sorts of novel ways to ask their respective date out to the most important dance in high school. Some examples include taco or oreo-based proposals. Some are artsy, some are food-based, and others are just affectionate. Jake Schwartz’s was a combination of all three, creating one of the most endearing recent examples of prom proposals for his girlfriend Paige Drury of Glastonbruy High School. On Valentine’s Day of 2019, he prom-proposed to his girlfriend with a smattering of Hershey’s kisses.
On that fateful, romantic day, Jake tells Paige of a chocolate surprise he recently made for her, passing it off as a topical Valentine’s Day gift. He words it in a nonchalant way, prompting her to check it out. The thoughtful smooth talker presents a colorful smorgasbord of Hershey’s kisses written in braille, taking her hand and guiding her to the gift.
Paige, unsuspecting, takes a moment to read the letters, spelling out “prom” in colorful chocolate-wrapper typography. After feeling through the entirety of the word, her already bubbly demeanor changes, letting out a cheery smile and laugh. She’s clearly happy with Jake’s gesture. Her reaction is priceless.
Her boyfriend Jake then embraces her and asks, “So is that a yes?” to which she fittingly replies, “Yes” as the two hug for a few moments. Both have giant grins on their faces, basking in their affection for one another. They clearly make a cute, loving couple, and they’ll definitely have a great time together at the Glastonbury High School prom. Paige and Jake are a lucky pair.
They take a memorable photograph on a small bench after the proposal, featuring Jake’s affectionate chocolate-braille sign and a pair of wide grins. The school can be seen in the background, with an American flag draped on the side. It’s incredibly thoughtful of Jake to have taken the time to spell out prom in braille, a language and typography he may not be totally familiar with. His affection for Paige pushed him to give her the best possible proposal, and he did a wonderful job.
Both Paige and Jake have giant grins on their faces, clearly happy with the proposal and their overall romance. Ultimately, Paige confirms the prom date without hesitation, to Jake’s gleeful delight. It’s easy to see that they’ll have a wonderful, memorable time together. Other couples may not have it near as good. They say nice guys finish last – they’re dead wrong.
