There’s such a thing as “Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day.” But when your dad is legendary musician Billy Joel, the experience would be on a whole other level.
During a concert in New York’s Madison Square Garden, three-year-old Della Rose had the chance to join her father on stage for a performance. The scene captured on film was just oh too cute.
The Piano Man’s sold more than 150 million records over his long career, but his biggest fans of all are right at home.
He and his wife Alexis Roderick Joel share two beautiful daughters together, Della Rose and her little sister Remy Anne. They’ve surely been exposed to a lot of their daddy’s music over their short lives (lucky, kids).
Joel was performing at the MSG Residency Home. Everyone received an early gift when suddenly he invited his sweet-girl Della Rose out on stage.
The three-year-old came bounding out wearing her Mrs. Claus holiday pajamas. Frankly, it was probably way past her bedtime – so at least she was dressed the part!
Joel handed Della Rose a microphone and told the crowd “she’s gonna do ‘Don’t Ask Me Why.'” Everyone cheered in response, but the little munchkin just stood shyly staring back.
It’s hard to imagine being on a huge stage like that as a kid, even if your dad is a famous musician like Billy Joel. Between the lights, the sounds, and the thousands of people – it would be pretty intimidating for any person.
Della Rose seemed mesmerized by all that she was seeing. Perhaps, maybe feeling a little stage fright too. Even when her daddy began singing “Don’t Ask Me Why,” (which Joel says is her favorite song) – she didn’t budge an inch.
Until finally her Daddy’s singing finally got her moving and she add’s in her own dance steps in the sweetest way possible.
Being that Della Rose is so young, she still has time to build up the courage to sing a duet with her daddy in the future. There was one thing she had down pat though…
At the end, she hands back the microphone and goes to make her exit. But not without giving an awesome star-like bow first!
It’s a heartwarming scene from beginning to end. Not to mention, Billy Joel’s performance of “Don’t Ask Me Why” shows that he’s still got it!
