Battle of the Lashes: I Tested 5 DIY Lash Extensions to Find My New Favorite

I have been wearing false lashes since high school, and trust me—it’s been a while. So I could definitely deem myself a lash pro by now! However, as I’m sure you all know, even with years of experience with false lashes, there’s always a chance of a tiny hiccup happening, whether the glue wasn’t strong enough, the inner corner wasn’t sticking on all the way, or we end up shedding a few tears and the lash falls off entirely.

This article was written in paid partnership with SBLY eCommerce Brands.

Of course, us false lash pros always keep an emergency glue in our purses, but who wants to live in fear of our lashes coming off all of the time—at a birthday party, on vacation, or especially on a date?!

Luckily, to achieve longer, fuller lashes now, we have other options such as lash extensions from the salon or DIY lash clusters. I’ve tried the lash extensions route a few times at different salons, however, my eyes would get extremely irritated from the salon glue, and I would notice some eyelash fall out, which definitely steered me away, as I look for a better and safer option to achieve the full, voluminous lash look.

After some trial and error, I finally found my savior: Noonlash!

In my honest opinion, Noonlash is really high up there in the lash game. They feel the most light-weight on my eyes and never cause any harm or fall out to my real eyelashes, but they also have the perfect variety of lash maps and styles for every vibe, from all-natural to full glam, and everything in between.

If you’ve never tried lash clusters before, no problem! Let me help you out.

What are lash clusters?

As we all know, throwing on falsies instantly takes your makeup to the next level and makes you feel 10x more put-together. However, with false lashes, there’s so much room for error with the glue not sticking correctly, getting all over your lashes, the inner-corner not staying put—I could go on, but you know what I mean.

With lash clusters, you’re essentially getting the best of both worlds: the drama and volume of false lashes with a more natural, tailored fit.

Unlike traditional strip lashes that come in one piece, lash clusters are small groups of lashes that you can apply individually where you need them most. Since lash clusters come in smaller segments, it allows for a more customizable look, letting you add fullness to sparse areas, create a dramatic cat-eye effect, or simply enhance your natural lash line with a subtle boost.

The real beauty of clusters is their precision and flexibility. Since they’re applied in segments, you have more control over the final outcome, making it easier to achieve a seamless blend with your natural lashes. Say goodbye to the annoying lifting in your inner corners or the awkward gap that can happen between your natural lashes and the falsie.

Lash clusters are a huge game-changer for me—not only is it much easier to apply, it’s also extremely comfortable, and looks way more natural and seamless than wearing false lashes.

Before trying lash clusters, of course I went to our generation’s new Google: TikTok. I searched and tried the most viral DIY lashes out there, on a mission to find my new favorite.

Come with me on my journey to find the most natural lash clusters on the market!

Trying all of the viral lash clusters

I tried out the most popular lash cluster brands out there, so that you don’t have to! Let’s compare Lashify, Lilac St. Noonlash, and Amazon lashes, to find out which is the best, most natural and comfortable DIY lash extension!

Lashify

After hearing all the hype about Lashify, I was so excited to finally get my hands on these lash clusters.

However, I’ll admit, the sticker shock was real–shelling out $125 for the Control Kit felt steep, even though it came packed with everything needed to start: 2 sets of Gossamer Lash Clusters, their Whisper Light Dual-sided Bond, an applicator wand, and a Waterproof Sealant, packaged together beautifully. It made me think twice, considering it’s nearly what I’d pay for salon lash extensions.

What did impress me about Lashify was how lightweight they felt on my lashes once applied! It took a few attempts to get them just right, but once I did, they looked great and stayed put for about 3 days without any discomfort or signs of giving up.

That said, I wasn’t thrilled about the thickness of the lash bands and the stiffness of the hairs. And given their price tag, I would pass and continue my search for my budget-friendly lash options that don’t compromise on quality or comfort.

Lilac St.

Lilac St. has been popping up all over my Instagram lately, so I finally caved and tried out their lash clusters. And let me tell you, they lived up to the hype!

I tried on the Original 10 and 12mm here (lash mash: 10, 12, 12, 10), and I am so in love with how they how natural and wispy they are. Plus, their thin black band gives a soft and subtle eyeliner effect.

Comfort-wise, these lashes are a solid 10/10. They’re so lightweight and flexible, it’s easy to forget you’re even wearing them. And they stay put for 5 days, thanks to their strong adhesive. Speaking of glue, Lilac St.’s Pro Lash Glue is the best in the market! It’s the right amount of tacky, doesn’t dry or clump up, and a little goes a long way, so the bottle lasts for endless uses.

And the best part? They’re affordable, with individual sets at $11 and Intro Starter Kits for $45. So whether you’re new to lash clusters or a seasoned pro, Lilac St. is definitely worth checking out!

Noonlash

I can’t help it but be obsessed with Noonlash. From look and feel, to styles and retention, these clusters really won me over.

Their top-notch variety of styles, extreme comfort, and durability have truly impressed me. Unlike other lash clusters and strips that feel heavy, Noonlash is super lightweight and blends seamlessly with my natural lashes, making them literally undetectable once they’re on. People coming up to me and asking me if my lashes are real—it never gets old!

Here, I have on the Dusk Silk Set, which leans more toward a wispy and voluminous look. This is perfect for any date-night or girls night out!

Noonlash also excels in longevity. These lashes last me about 4-5 days without needing any touch-ups and can even be washed and reused! Their 2-in-1 Lash Bond & Sealant is super easy to work with; it holds the lashes securely for days, and gives me the same durability as Lilac St adhesive.

When it comes to value, Noonlash is surprisingly affordable given their high quality. Whether you opt for their Starter Kits (which includes: 3 lengths of lashes, precision applicator, gentle remover, 2-in-1 bond and dew coat wand) at $75 or individual lash clusters at $12, you get a bang for your buck. They’re slightly more expensive than some competitors, but the ability to customize lash lengths and tailor fits to your specific style makes Noonlash worth that little bit of extra investment.

Amazon Lash Clusters

After hearing amazing reviews about Amazon lash clusters on TikTok and how they cost less than $10 for 48 lash clusters—you know I had to try them. I tested the popular self adhesive lash extension brand, EASITENSION 12mm Volume Clusters and honestly, the softness of the lashes surprised me—I find that their lash hairs are a slightly softer texture than Lashify!

However, while I was rooting for these affordable lashes, they didn’t look as natural as other brands, like Lilac St. and Noonlash. The lash bands were noticeably thicker, which took away from the seamless look I prefer with an invisible band.

Despite this, I’d still recommend them for anyone on a tight budget and who needs a quick DIY lash appointment—they last a solid three days, and at $10 for 48 clusters, they’re an undeniable deal!

Best brand for DIY lash clusters?

After trying out these viral lash cluster brands, I have found my winner: Noonlash.

It’s not just about their quality materials or their impressive staying power (though lasting 4-5 days without a touch-up is pretty awesome). What really sets Noonlash apart is how incredibly natural they look and feel—they seriously become one with my natural lash.

The option to purchase three lengths together in one package makes it incredibly easy to tailor the lashes precisely to your liking. Given that everyone’s eye shape is unique, this allows you to personalize your las map, ensuring the lashes perfectly complement your individual look.

They might be slightly pricier than Lilac St., but you can reuse them and they’re super easy to apply, which totally makes up for the cost.

For anyone from lash newbies to total pros, Noonlash is definitely the top pick.

Runner up for best, most natural DIY lash clusters: Lilac St.

Coming in strong as a fantastic second choice, these lashes offer a great mix of quality and affordability, and their super-thin band creates a sleek, natural look that rivals more expensive brands. They’re light, comfy, and can last up to five days, thanks to their beyond amazing glue. Plus, they have lots of styles to choose from, making them perfect for daily wear or a special night out. While Noonlash wins for best overall experience and customization, Lilac St. is an excellent runner-up that won’t disappoint if you’re looking for great lashes on a budget.

Noonlash and Lilac St. are truly the best DIY lash clusters in the market and they’re now definitely a staple in my makeup essentials!
