Itโs back to school time again, the dreaded end of the summer that no one really looks forward to. Students give up their freedom to head back to the classroom for another year of learning, but theyโre not the only ones who sometimes dread going back. Teachers also get a whole summer of freedom and arenโt always excited to get back in the groove of teaching.

Just like every school year, 400 Philidelphia teachers gathered for their orientation to the upcoming school year. They sat waiting for their first lesson without students, but were surprised when instead of a speaker, music started playing. The group was not ready for some of the staff from the charter school to put together a whole flash mob performance to the tune of โAnything Can Happenโ from the famous Mary Poppins movie.

The song was fitting since the theme of the school year is String Theory Schools Inspire Magic. The music teachers of the Philidelphia Performing Arts Charter School put together the number in hopes to inspire their fellow co-workers to inspire students during the upcoming school year. The fun performance turner the beginning of this professional development day into something meaningful that made everyoneโs day.

String Theory Schools, or the Philidelphia Performing Arts Charter High School, is a school dedicated to students with interests in instrumental or vocal music, ballet, theater, digital communication, and also science and technology. The students not only get a diverse curriculum but fieldwork opportunities as well. With four campuses spanning kindergarten through high school, they are offering a lot of students a lot of opportunities that may be disappearing from other traditional schools. With a staff that cares about each other as much as they care about their students, itโs no doubt that they will have a successful school year- every year.
