Everyone agrees – babies are adorable.
From day one, tiny newborns melt hearts with their innocence and cuteness. Watching them grow is truly spectacular. Within the blink of an eye, they’ll complete the quick journey from newborn to infant to toddler to child, proper. Then, eventually adolescence to adulthood. Learn to enjoy the little moments along the way.
9-month-old Ashlynne lays sprawled out on the ground. Her 14-year-old brother, Dakota accompanies her, sitting cross-legged and smiling as he watchers her wiggle around. Although Ashlynne can’t form words yet, she’s well on her way.
Dressed in a pink one piece with stripes and polka dots, Ashlynne proceeds to sound out a few noises – a series of high-pitched “ahhs.”
Her gibberish doesn’t fall on deaf ears. Within a matter of moments, Dakota responds with his own “ahh.” Sure, his accent’s different, but they seem to be speaking the same infantile language.
Baby Ashlynne seems somewhat surprised. She turns to her brother in an attempt to advance the conversation with eager eyes.
The family’s unkempt living room’s riddled with scattered toys, including a train set – a typical baby backdrop. One can see wrinkled clothes draped atop furniture, looking like something straight out of reality.
Ashlynne continues her baby gibberish, letting out a few more “ahs” with variable pitch. Her voice control isn’t half bad for someone less than a year old! She’s completely engaged.
Dakota proceeds to respond to every single iteration with his own high-pitched “ah.” His falsetto is silky smooth. He’s clearly fluent in baby.
Ashlynne and Dakota partake in a rather engaging back and forth of adorable incoherence.
Little Ashlynne gathers into a miniature human ball before stretching her legs, contemplating her next “words.” She looks up at the ceiling, pondering.
She takes a few more moments to gather herself, deep in thought. Dakota waits, eagerly, with gleaming eyes and a wide grin on his face. He seems to love the interaction, kindling the flames of Ashlynne’s enthusiasm.
Dakota leans forward, anticipating a response. He’s all ears.
The baby talks advance. Smirking, Ashlynne turns towards her older brother, letting out another single sharp “ah.”
This time, Dakota changes his voice, ditching the fabricated falsetto. His next response is octaves lower, adding a unique contrast to their “conversation.” Ashlynne takes the response in stride, sending some more vocalizations back.
Their endearing exchange continues for another few seconds, featuring Ashlynne’s baby vocals and Dakota’s deep responses.
Ashlynne is a spritely 9 months old. Technically, she can’t form “real” words yet, although she may be able to understand them. In fact, babies are generally able to understand voice tones and their own names by the end of month seven. By the end of the first year, it’s common for babies to form simple words like “dadda” or “momma.” Babies generally learn to (properly) talk between 12 and 18 months old or older.
Ashlynne’s well on her way to adulthood. Fortunately, there’s still a few precious years before even her first elementary school class. Dakota looks like a great brother – someone who’ll be by her side lovingly throughout life. Even though about 13 years separate the two, they’ve already developed a wonderful rapport. They’ll continue to grow, together.
Dakota and his parents will cherish these very moments. Babies are babies for only so long. Don’t blink, because adorable Ashlynne will be full-grown in no time.
