Candace discovered she was pregnant with the child 6 weeks into the pregnancy. At the 2 month mark, she felt intense cramps, which did not feel normal. As conditions worsened, the Gaines visited the doctors for an examination. Several ultrasounds determined that the babyโs heart had stopped beating. They couldnโt detect a heartbeat, and as a result, doctors advised the couple to remove the baby from Candaceโs body. By not doing so, Candaceโs body could suffer major damages.
The Gaines refused to give in. They began to pray. Three weeks later, the Gaines decided it was time to listen to the doctorโs advice. At that point, Dennis made one last request โ check the baby for a heartbeat one last time.
