Baby Girl Gives Daddy An “Earful”
Can anyone translate this?

Despite living in a world of text messages, there are still those of us who enjoy gabbing on the phone (my hand is certainly raised). Because no matter how many emojis they create – nothing beats being able to express yourself through verbal conversation.

Another person who agrees with this is 16-month-old Emelia. What her mom was able to capture on camera is not only adorable – it’s pretty funny, too!

Emelia was just a baby when her mom handed her the phone. Yay, it was her daddy on the other end!

As we know, a girl can have a lot on her mind. Fortunately, some dads have really good listening ears for their daughters – just like Emelia’s. So she decided to spill all the “drama.”

Mom starts filming her baby’s excited conversation with her husband. But at such a young age, little Emelia hasn’t quite learned to form all her words yet – so it’s a little “gibberish-y.” It’s what makes it so cute though.

She unloads her thoughts on dad a mile a minute with the sweetest voice. Aren’t you curious what the little tyke’s actually saying? Sounds like it’s got to be pretty good.

Emelia hilariously paces the living room with the phone in hand. I don’t know about you, but I do this too when I’m on a phone call – and usually, it’s because I’m dodging kids and loud noises in the house. From the way she keeps looking at Mom – the baby likes her privacy as well.

You can almost hear her saying… “Come on, Mom. I’m trying to have a private conversation here!”

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to know what dad’s saying on his end, but you can tell he’s really engaging with his daughter. Her eyes seem all lit up and she’s absolutely loving her time on the phone.

While most of Emelia’s language is hard to decipher, there are some things you can make out. Like when she walks over to the sliding glass door and points out a bug to her dad (what, this isn’t facetime girl) – saying, “buggy.”

But as we know, even the best of conversations have to come to an end. The baby ends up telling her dad, “bye,” and tries to hit the off button.

When she realizes though that her dad is actually gone from the other end, she gets upset. Looks like this little one’s found her new favorite activity!

There’s no doubt Emelia is going to have her daddy wrapped around her finger for life.

What’s cute is that she probably picked up the expressive phone behavior from her parents (I’m putting my bets on mom). Children imitating their parents is completely natural as they move towards becoming more independent.

In an interview with Parents Magazine, Dr. Daniel B. Kessler said:

“As they copy the deeds of adults, toddlers realize, Wow! I can do this! Aren’t I great? I’ll try it again. They learn that they have control. Eventually, 1-year-olds begin not just to imitate but to act out of self-motivation.”

After the family posted the video of Emelia talking with her daddy on the phone, it went viral. In fact, it’s been viewed more than 11 million times!
