Parents live for those subtle, precious moments with their children, starting from birth. Watching them learn and grow’s truly special, even through adulthood. But there’s something extra endearing about newborns and infants. Nobody tugs at the proverbial heartstrings quite like them.

Babies are cute, sure. It’s hard to find one that isn’t. But what about Simultaneously Sleeping and Laughing Baby? Perhaps even cuter than boring old Normal Sleeping Baby.

Here’s proof – Dad explains the situation via short YouTube description,

“Was taking a nap with my daughter when I heard her laughing in my sleep. I finally woke up and grabbed my iPhone & this is what I captured.”

In what could probably pass as a future iPhone ad, Half-Asleep Dad snuggles with his child atop thick white sheets and a blue plush pillow.

Without batting a literal or figurative eye, Sleeping Baby Girl enters a giggling frenzy.

Her laughter’s contagious, infecting her vulnerable father. Despite her state, she seems pretty comfortable. She lovingly touches Dad’s clean-shaven face, giggling intermittently. He has absolutely no defense… poor guy.

He’s all smiles, holding back his own laughter. This is one of those moments.

Fortunately, sleep-laughing isn’t exactly unhealthy or entirely abnormal. The technical phrase for the phenomenon is hypnogely. Researchers believe it’s generally caused by actively laughing at an ongoing dream in the midst of rapid eye movement (REM) cycles. Rarely, sleep-laughing stems from sleep or neurological disorders. The majority of the time, it’s a completely normal response to a funny dream.

Giggling Baby Girl folds her hand into a fist, almost socking her father’s eye. She’s uncontrollable. He shrugs it off like a champ. The giggling continues, unabashed.

Dad lets out a hearty, wide grin. He’s as amused as she is. And he successfully avoided a black eye, to boot.

Dad’s cherishing every moment. He proceeds to remove the pacifier from her mouth to ease her breathing.

She can’t contain herself.

She’s incredibly active, moving rapidly and sporadically – undoubtedly a powerful laugher. Her laughter ranges from chuckles to cackles.

It’s honestly hard to believe that she’s even asleep at this point. Those aren’t breathy chuckles – they’re deep chortles.

She turns towards Dad’s camera, clearly still sleeping. For a split second, she looks completely at ease – peaceful, even. I imagine most of her sleep looks like this:

The silence breaks.

Laughing Baby Girl laughs and laughs some more. Seriously, what’s she dreaming of? She begins to toss and turn gently in place. All the while, Dad watches affectionately. He’s going to remember this for the rest of his life. She probably won’t, but that’s okay. They’ve got footage.

Dreaming Baby Girl wakes up and turns towards the camera. Dad, eyes gleaming, lovingly wishes her a good morning.

She’s honestly cute as a button. Even though she can’t talk, her gleeful expression says it all. She loves Dad as much as he loves her. Their combined joy’s doubly cute.

Fortunately, she doesn’t seem exhausted or sleepy at all from her laughing binge. Her dream must have been fantastic. I’d like those type of dreams, too. Side note – sleeplaughing looks way safer (and more fun) than sleepwalking.

Dad and Baby Girl share a simultaneously funny, unique, and heartwarming moment – one that will make Dad’s Sentimental Moments Hall of Fame. Awake Baby Girl’s clearly in loving hands – for life.
