Shaving can transform any man – from grizzled mad man to baby-faced beauty. Some changes are more drastic than others, leaving some people completely unnoticeable.
A loving father holds his baby, named Dot, sharing warm embraces. He tells her to point out his giant beard. She gleefully looks at him and points to his thick, black mane.
Soon thereafter, Dad lets her know that he needs to use the bathroom, and that she can knock if she wants. He puts her down and heads to the restroom to clean up.
Dot immediately breaks into a quick crawl, heading to the bathroom door and giving it a hearty knock. Dad tells her to wait a few seconds, but she’s one persistent toddler.
After a few moments, Dad responds to his daughter and walks out of the room, a completely changed man. His giant black beard has been shaven completely off, causing him to look like a completely different person.
Baby Dot can’t process the results. Upon being held by her freshly shaven father, she looks confused, as if in the hands of a total stranger. At first she says “hi,” but her facial expressions are geared towards a random person. Within moments she bursts out into toddler tears. She’s probably thinking, “Who is this random bearded man I’ve never seen before that’s currently holding me?”
She even refused a hug, prompting Dad to give her to Mom, who has been holding the camera. But it doesn’t help, baby Dot continues the waterworks in Mom’s arms.
Dad then thinks of a solution – he grabs a piece of dark cloth, perhaps a scarf, to wrap around his face. He presents his new artificial beard to Dot. She then appears to acknowledge her father. He begins to slowly remove the scarf to ease her into the change. Her tears stop, but she still appears a little puzzled and skeptical.
Mom and Dad then reinforce the fact that the beardless man is actually her father. Although Dot never really seems to totally adjust, she seems to come around to the change.
On average, beards grow at a rate of half an inch per month. Generally, it takes two to four months for most men to grow a full beard, according to Beard Brand. If worst comes to worst, Dot will recognize her father again in about two months.
Shaving can be a chore, which is one of the reasons so many men grow their beards. At a point, the beard becomes one with the man, merging with his identity. One becomes recognized with the beard, the beard playing a pivotal role in the persona of the man.
Dot got her first glimpse into the wild transformation a man can go through upon shaving for the first time in eons. It can definitely be an eye opener. She’ll learn to love this stranger, with or without his thick black mane.
