There are likely millions of song covers posted on YouTube.
Itโs understandable to see why. There is plenty of great music out there made by talented artistsโwhat better way to show your appreciation than by singing their music on your own? For the most part, these videos are just a fun way to blow off steam, have fun and show some appreciation.
Still, one extraordinary girl is making a name for herself online through her song covers.
Ashleigh Fagan is a shy, 17-year-old girl living in Dublin, Irelandโbut sheโs touched the hearts of millions.
In addition to her beautiful voice, Faganโs story has struck a chord with viewers due to the many hardships she has endured in her own life. In addition to being partially blind, Fagan was also diagnosed with autism when she was 12 years old. Though these issues have made aspects of her life challenging, it hasnโt dampened her spirits.
Despite her challenges, Faganโs incredible voice has carried her through.
According to Fagan, singing is one of her favorite things to do:
โIt makes me feel really happy. Itโs really nice as well that my music makes people feel good.โ
Though her online output is extensive, there are a few must-see covers in her catalog.
1. Castle on the Hill
Although Ed Sheeran is popular with just about everybody, Fagan is an especially big fan of the artist. Fagan does a warm and heartfelt rendition of this song with accompanying guitar playing. As an added bonus, this song is Faganโs favorite song!
2. Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Though this song is an enduring classic that dates all the way back to Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz, Faganโs version is a little different. Her take has more in common with Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwoโoleโs version which became popular recently. Even cooler, though, is that this one is a medley which includes a version of What a Wonderful World.
3. See You Again
See You Again by Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalida recently became the most played music video on YouTube. Still, wait until you see Faganโs own rendition of it.
4. Shadow of the Day
Although the other covers on this list consist mostly of pop songs, Faganโs range and musical interests are wider than that. In this one, she does a cover of Linkin Parkโs Shadow of the Day. As a memorial of Chester Bennington, this one is particularly effective.
5. When We Were Young
Last but not least, this Adele cover shows that Faganโs voice is incredible enough to take on anyone. This one has adds a gentleness that Adeleโs own powerful delivery doesnโt seem to haveโthat alone makes this worth checking out.
Faganโs dream is to meet Ed Sheeran.
