There are certain songs that bring a tear to your eye no matter how many times you hear them.
When 10-year-old Arthur Bolzonella walked onto The Voice Kids’ stage he quickly managed to captivate the crowd singing a Bob Dylan classic. It’s a powerful tune with a great deal of talent behind it.
Some music is timeless and passed on from generation to generation. Legendary singer, Bob Dylan, has been touching people’s souls since the early 1960s with his work – and continues to do so today.
It’s no surprise that Dylan has influenced many other musical artists throughout the decades. His songs are also widely covered by both the famous and aspiring singers like Arthur.
On The Voice Kids France, the audience was treated to a refreshing performance by Arthur, who was accompanied by his acoustic guitar.
At first, the judges are facing away from the boy in their red chairs as he began to sing. All it took was just the first sounds for everyone to pinpoint his song choice.
Arthur had selected the all-time classic, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” to perform in the competition.
It’s a song that’s given people chills since it first appeared in the 1973 film, Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid. Dylan released “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” as a single a couple of months later and it became a global hit.
The French judges seemed impressed by Arthur’s voice who amazingly performs the song beautifully in English. He croons the iconic lyrics,
“Mama, take this badge off of me – I can’t use it anymore. It’s gettin’ dark, too dark for me to see – I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door…”
Once Arthur gets to the more energized chorus some of the judges start bopping along in their seats. Eventually, the musical artist Jenifer can’t hold back any longer and presses her button!
As her chair turns around, Arthur’s parents cheer from behind the scenes. His mom’s so overwhelmed by the sight she actually bursts into tears. Even with only one button pressed it meant that Arthur would be moving forward in the competition.
But would there be more?
There have been many renditions created of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” – from Eric Clapton to heavy metal band Guns and Roses. Other contestants on reality shows like The Voice have covered it as well.
Arthur’s version is unique-sounding and pulls on your heartstrings.
While he’s singing the other judges seem deeply moved, yet hold back from also turning their chairs. When Louis toys with the idea, hovering his hand above the button – Jenifer quickly scolds him. She realized Arthur had great talent and wanted him all to herself.
That, of course, isn’t how the show works though. Any judge can press their button at any time, which then leads to the contestant choosing which coach they’d like to work with.
Although it seemed like Jenifer would get her wish to not have to fight over Arthur, suddenly, the other judges hit their buttons too. They would have to of been crazy not to. Arthur is an incredible singer, guitar player, and apparently an old soul to appreciate his Bob Dylan.
