Angelina Green, a thirteen-year-old contestant on this past week of America’s Got Talent, shocked audiences with a golden voice and a golden buzzer from Heidi Klum.
With her parents divorced, Angelina expressed how important music became through their family struggles.
“It was really hard for me, and music helped me so much.”
When she walked on stage with an enormous grin glowing on her face, the judges took note of her radiant stage presence.
Heidi: “Your smile is infectious.”
Angelina: “Thank you.”
Heidi looked over to the right of the stage and noticed Angelina’s mom beaming.
Heidi: “And I can see where you get it from because I’m looking over there. You have a gorgeous mom standing there in the wing.”
Angelina’s mom blew her daughter a kiss.
Howie: “Are you and your mom close?”
Angelina: “Very close. Like my best friend.”
Angelina went on to express gratitude for her mother’s support, giving us a glimpse of their powerful bond.
In front of a huge audience, moments before the performance of a lifetime, she stood firmly center stage. She took a deep breath as the piano to The Pretenders’ “I’ll Stand By You” kicked in.
It took five seconds for the audience to break into applause.
Mel-B began to fight back the tears – shook by Angelina’s stunning, soulful voice.
As soon as Angelina broke into the chorus, the words “I’ll stand by you,” ringing through the auditorium, the crowd immediately rose to its feet.
Standing on the wing, Angelina’s mother covered her face in pride with Tyra Banks wrapping her under her arm.
Tyra: “Oh my gosh!”
While the crowd applauded, showering Angelina with adoration, the judges sat in awe.
When Angelina finished, the crowd burst into a roar of applause and the judges stood on their feet.
Heidi: I really really love what you just did. To me, you feel like there is an old soul inside of that little, thirteen-year-old body… I loved it so much, that I’m going to hit the gold button!”
Gold confetti poured from the rafters, and Angelina looked to her mom, both in tears.
Simon: “You’ve made my goosebumps have goosebumps. The truth is, we don’t get many people like you for a reason because they’re hard to find. Genuinely I’m excited because I think you’re so talented.”
