All In The Family, an iconic sitcom from the 70s with its humor that could easily offend in this decade, is about to make a return to television. Are we ready for it?

Ready or not, we’re about to find out.

Norman Lear, the writer and producer of the original All In the Family as well as The Jeffersons, is bringing the show back for one 90-minute TV special. Jimmy Kimmel will be along to help out with this newest rendition.

Lear thinks the show’s humor can still find a place, despite the passage of time.

The Cast

Apparently, it’s more than just the producer willing to take that bet. There are several Oscar winners who will be playing the well-known characters.

Are you ready to find out who they will be?

Woody Harrelson will be Archie Bunker this time around

Archie Bunker was originally played by Carroll O’Connor. His controversial character is the primary reason so many people think the show won’t do well today.

Woody Harrelson, an Emmy winner who has been nominated for an Oscar three times, is ready to bring Archie back to life and onto our television screens to test that theory. His comedic timing and gruff personality may be just what is required to keep the original show’s spirit alive.

Marisa Tomei will be in the role of Edith Bunker

A housewife and an absolutely necessary part of the show, Edith Bunker became an American TV favorite. The original actress, Jean Stapleton’s, did such an amazing job (earning two Golden Globes and three Emmys in the process) that it will be hard to fill her shoes.

Marisa Tomei is up for the challenge. Edith was killed off back when Archie Bunker’s Place, a spin-off of the original show, was filmed. Fans will be excited to see her character finally returned to the set. Although, we have to wonder what reason they will give for her somehow having survived.

Wanda Sykes will be Louise “Weezie” Jefferson

Isabel Sanford, the original actress, won an Emmy for the role. Yeah, it was that good. Maybe there is a reason to bring the show back after all.

Now it is time for Wanda Sykes to step into her shoes. We think the comedian will be the perfect Weezie for the new George Jefferson to play off and create comedy worth watching in any decade. Which brings us to George…

Jamie Foxx will be George Jefferson

Sherman Hemsley was the original unforgettable George Jefferson of All In The Family. He played a neighbor to the Bunkers and eventually got his own spin-off show, The Jeffersons.

Jamie Foxx, an Oscar and Golden Globe winner, is ready to take over the personality and everything that comes with it. We can’t wait to see the magic.

The Rest of the Crew

There are still rumors about who will be filling the rest of the roles on the show. Justina Machado will play a part, but we don’t know what that will be quite yet!

Will Ferrell is being considered for the role of Tom Willis and Ellie Kemper may be playing Gloria Stivic, but there are still a lot of questions, and no one seems to know for sure.

We may just have to wait and see.

Will you be tuning in?
