Every time a baby reaches a joyous milestone, it is a reason for celebration. Whether it’s a first smile, first time rolling over, first time sitting up, first steps, first bite of food … it’s all so exciting!

New parents document everything and thanks to social media, they share each momentous occasion with family and friends far and near. This time, though, three-month-old James was hanging out with his grandparents in person. They were thrilled to dote upon him!

Grandpa was tossing out possible first words for James to try out and maybe even speak out loud. Some might think that at three months, he’s much too young to rattle off his first word.

Babies take their time and speak when they’re ready.

Sometimes it takes just a few months of vocalizing and toying around with coos, growls and syllables to jumpstart the process.

For many babies, they won’t say mama or dada until six to eight months, according to What To Expect. But when a baby correlates what the words mama and dada means to the actual person, it’s amazing!

Some babies don’t speak until they’re 18 months old, while some will utter their first word much sooner. It’s definitely a surprise when it happens!

The best way to encourage a baby to talk is by reading to him or her, talking a ton to him and sharing music with her. Exposure to words and and language helps tremendously.

It’s rare that a baby would say his or her first word at three months of age, but it does happen. Take Baby James for example…

Baby James’ mom is recording him sharing some bonding time with his grandma and grandpa. They’re prompting him to say his first word and offer up numerous options for him to repeat.

“You’re so smart. Let’s say momma. Say momma. Do you want to?”

James grunts in return and his grandparent’s smile, full of love and adoration for this bundle of joy before them.

“Can you say milk?”

James just grins, apparently dreaming for a fleeting moment about some milk.

Grandma’s gently holding Baby James around the waist while his arms swing to the side. She encourages him to say nana, but he remains mum. This doesn’t seem to be the magic word.

Then Grandpa preps Baby James to utter his first word and he blows everyone away!

“I know what his first word will be! Taco!”

Grandpa repeats the word many times. Suddenly Baby James clearly says “taco!”

Grandpa looks shocked and Mom, who is behind the camera, exclaims out loud:

“He just said taco!”

Unable to stop laughing, Grandpa says, “Well, put that on YouTube.”

And so Baby James’ mom did and this video has garnered 1.5 million views so far. It’s crazy to think that Baby James said his first word at three months and even wilder to think that it was “taco!”

Watch this little cutie say his first word on camera and get a chuckle out of adorable James’ big milestone. He’s too darn cute!
