Deciding to adopt is a big decision, but once it’s made, sometimes what’s even scarier is waiting to meet your new kids. The anticipation can stir up a wide range of emotions, from nervousness to excitement, to pure joy.
It’s something that Brandon Hatmaker and his wife learned firsthand recently when they decided to welcome two additional members into their lovely family.
They posted a video on YouTube showing the emotional moment they first got to meet their new adopted children Ben and Remy, and we have to admit, watching the life-changing scene brought more than a few tears to our eyes. It’s a video that anyone thinking about adopting in the future definitely needs to watch.
The clip begins with the couple riding in a car en route to the adoption agency.
It is unclear what country they are in, but it is pretty obvious they are a long way from home. With our global society becoming more connected by the day, adopting children internationally is more common than ever before.
However, as soon as Brandon and his wife step out of the car, things get very real, very quickly.
The kids haven’t even arrived yet and already the waterworks are flowing strong. The wife brings her hands to her face to wipe away her tears.
Then suddenly, Ben and Remy come running out to greet them and the couple can’t help but burst into giant smiles.
The two kids immediately jump into their arms, and that’s when Brandon and his wife knew that the adoption was meant to be.
Really, they were at a complete loss for words.
All they could manage to say were a few short phrases expressing their incredible elation.
“I’m so happy,” the wife says in between the tears.
The kids don’t understand them entirely at first, but it doesn’t matter one bit. Although there is a language barrier between the couple and the children, the body language of everyone says everything that needs to be said. It’s love at first sight, and from that moment on, they just knew they were all going to be a family.
After the meeting, the video switches to a slideshow of family pictures.
The images show the couple sitting beside the children and helping them to read books and do their homework, as well as other photos of them all smiling and having fun together. Basically, normal family stuff. It’s so simple yet so heartwarming.
Never before in history has there been a time quite like now, where you can jump on a plane as a couple, and come home as a family of four.
However, that’s exactly what Brandon Hatmaker and his wife decided to do. After meeting Ben and Remy for the first time, they couldn’t imagine leaving the country without them.
We are so happy for the four of them, and it brings us so much joy thinking about the incredible journey all of them are going to have together.
We wish the Hatmaker family the best of luck as they begin this new and beautiful chapter in their lives.
