Your coworkers can often feel like family, even if they arenโt.
Often, you are spending more time each day with them than you are anyone else! Work friends can even occasionally make the leap into โrealโ friends if things play out right, but it doesnโt happen all that often.
For one man, however, his office friend was about to turn into his biological dad!
Nathan Boos is a Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin resident who has always known heโs adopted.
โGrowing up I always knew that I was adopted, it just never crossed my mind that I would ever find my parents,โ he told WEAU 13.
Nathan didnโt know who his biological parents were.
He was adopted right near the city where he lived, but little thought was ever given to seeing them.
Nathanโs adopted parents had known who his bio parents were, but it wasnโt something any of them talked about very often.
One day, however, Nathanโs mom noticed something weird.
While on social media she noticed that Nathan was friends with his biological dad on Facebook!
Soon after, she talked to Nathan about it and he had no idea what she was talking about.
Looking into the strange coincidence, they discovered that Nathanโs dad was a truck driverโฆ just like Nathan was.
Going through his profile, they learned that the friendship on Facebook wasnโt a coincidence, the two worked for the same company!
Both Nathan and his father were truck drivers for Rock Solid Transport in Chippewa Falls, but neither one of them knew they were related!
In fact, the pair had been working together for two years and had no idea. The manโs name? Bob Degaro.
Nathan asked Bob if he knew a particular woman, Nathanโs bio mom, and Bob sure did!
The woman was Bobโs ex-wife, proving that this wasnโt some strange mixup, this was actually Nathanโs dad!
After having some conversations, Bob explained that the choice to place Nathan for adoption was due to financial struggles, plus Bob confessed he wasnโt much of a father back then.
Bobโs ex-wife had chosen the adopting parents because they were distantly related.
Even still, the realization between the two was a shock, especially since they were already friends!
Despite the news, they are continuing to grow their friendship, even if itโs weird at times.
โItโs still kind of a shock. There are days when Iโm not sure what to say or how to act. I mean, he is my son but I mean we didnโt have that father son relationship growing up and instead met through a work relationship.โ
Regardless, they are making things work as best they can.
Watching the two of them together, itโs clear they are related!
