Robin Williams was one of the planet’s most entertaining treasures. His passing was unfortunate, shocking the entire world and legions of his adoring fans. Williams’ legacy lives on through his work and his family.
For years, 31-year-old actor Jamie Costa has been doing Robin Williams impressions. His latest “test footage” on YouTube has to be his best though. It’s so impressive, fans want a full biopic of the late star.
The trending video is a scene set on March 5, 1982.
It is based on Dave Itzkoff’s biography “Robin”. Jamie sist and rehearses in front of a mirror as Robin until he finds out that his friend, SNL legend John Belushi, passed away from a drug overdose.
“Williams” receives the news from “Mork & Mindy” co-star Pam Dawber who is played by Sarah Murphree.
Murphee (Dawber) interrupts Costa (Williams) as he rehearses his lines in his chair. Williams, in the timeline, was partying with Belushi the night prior and is in disbelief at what he hears.
“No, I told you, I was with him. John’s not dead, I was with him last night,” Robin replies.
She then says that she won’t let the same happen to him, to which Costa agrees and assures her that it won’t.
Murphee says, “Good. Because if it did, Robin, I would find you and kill you first.”
The energy is palpable, with both Sarah and Jamie locked in the moment.
Costa comes back with a smile, saying, “You sounded like James Bond, just then.”
After he receives the horrible news, Costa’s Robin goes back to rehearsing, this time with a sadness that only the late Robin Williams could do during emotional scenes. Costa is unreal.
It was back in 2014 when Williams took his own life at the age of 63.
Williams was diagnosed posthumously with Lewy body dementia. Robin’s declining mental state was discussed in a 2018 documentary, “Robin’s Wish.”
Costa has appeared in fan-made films of popular franchises like “Star Wars” and “Spider-Man.” He’s been attracting more fans and viewers over the years, but it was in 2015 with the video “Never Had a Friend Like Him,” that put him in the spotlight.
It’s a shame that video is no longer available. That was Costa’s “tribute to the man whose spark ignited my passion.”
Costa and Murphree’s test footage elicited a reaction from Williams’ daughter, Zelda.
But perhaps it was bad timing.
Guys, I’m only saying this because I don’t think it’ll stop until I acknowledge it… please, stop sending me the ‘test footage’. I’ve seen it. Jamie is SUPER talented, this isn’t against him, but y’all spamming me an impression of my late Dad on one of his saddest days is weird.

Zelda, now 32, is an actress and director. Her dad would be so proud!
Thomas Tulak worked with Williams as one of the youngest of the lost boys in “Hook.” He was all praises for Costa’s impression of the late star.
“This video gave me chills, and brought me to tears. For a moment it felt just like Robin himself was back. I now find myself wanting a Robin biopic more than anything, and I hope Jamie plays him,” Tulak said.
It’s a shame that Williams left so soon. His films are timeless, his ability to have viewers laughing with a face or a quip, truly legendary. He would have been 70 and still making us laugh if he was still around.
Let’s just hope that Costa does more of Williams. For now, enjoy the video below!
