I tend to be a pretty emotionless person (just in case you were wondering), but this viral video truly got me feeling some type of way. Guaranteed it will have your heart feeling all warm and tingly as well.
Airman Cameron Yancey was on a months-long deployment in the Middle East.
As you can imagine, that can be very emotionally taxing on a family, especially when it’s a child’s parent.
But soon it was finally time to come home, so Yancey decided to surprise his son.
His son’s reaction is something he will never, ever forget.
He posted a video of the surprise on his Facebook page on July 27th, 2018 and while it’s short, it’s packed with love and deep emotion.
Little did he know the video would soon go viral, with now 17+ million views, plus over 170,000 shares.
The video shows Yancey walking up to his home and knocking on his front door as if he is a stranger. Then his 5-year-old son Cade, who clearly has no idea he is home, comes to answer. What he sees is a huge surprise: dad!
First Cade is shocked as Yancey lifts him up in his arms. Then he calls for his mother who must’ve been in on it and cries “I missed you, Daddy! I missed you!” over and over again, our hearts melting a little more each time.
Like I said, I’m not the most emotional person, but this one definitely got me.
This video is such a strong reminder of all the families who make sacrifices for our country and freedom.
