Fred had been married to his wife Lorraine for 73 years and then she passed away.
The Lonliness That Followed
Once Lorraine had gone Fred was sitting in his front room and a song came to him that he just kept humming. For Fred the lyrics that were running through his head just seemed to fit her.
Sweet Lorraine
Fred put pen to paper and wrote the words to the song that he felt were so fitting for his late wife. Then he did something else.
Green Shoe Studio
Green Shoe Studio was running a singer songwriter contest where contestants could upload their entries.
The Letter From Fred
Green Shoe Studio received a letter from Fred.
The letter said that Fred and written a song for his late wife. He made it clear in the letter that he wasn’t a musician or a good singer. In a P.S. on the manila envelop that the letter was in it said “I don’t sing, I would scare people, ha ha”.
Fred had seen the ad about the contest in the paper and just decided to send his song in. With no expectations.
Green Shoe were deeply touched by the letter that contained the lyrics of the song Fred had written for Lorraine.
About Lorraine
Fred said Lorraine gave him 75 years of her life.

Lorraine was a car hop at the A & W Rootbeer Stand. This is where Fred met her in 1938 and fell in love with her right there and then.
Sweet Lorraine
The song that Fred wrote for Lorraine was called Sweet Lorraine. Green Shoe Studios made the decision to bring the lyrics to life by putting it to music. They took on the task of having it put to professional music and have a professional singer sing it.
Fred’s Surprise
When they told Fred of their plans Fred was worried because he didn’t have any money. But Green Shoes assured him that they were doing this for free. Fred was so touched by this jesture he began to cry.
Fred asked why Green Shoes would do this for him
Green Shoes told him that they were doing it together, and because music means so much to so many people.

The Final Version

The Lyrics
Oh sweet Lorraine, I wish we could do all the good times over again
Oh sweet Lorraine, life only goes around once but never again
Oh sweet Lorraine, I wish we could do all the good times over again
The good times, the good times, the good times, over again
The good times, the good times, the good times, all over again
But the memories always linger on, Oh sweet Lorraine
Oh I don’t wanna move on, oh the memories always linger on
Oh sweet Lorraine that’s why I wrote this song
Oh sweet Lorraine I wish we could do all the good times over again
Oh sweet Lorraine life only goes round once but never again
Oh sweet Lorraine I wish we could do all the good times over again
The good times, the good times. All the good times all over again
