When it comes to regular old hedges, they can seem dull and clique. Why not make them into something really cool? When this man 75-year-old man got tired of the same old hedges, he spent 13 years turning one into a 150-foot dragon!

This 75-year-old man thought his hedge was “boring,” so he spent 13 years sculpting this 150-foot dragon.

John Brooker is a 75-year-old retired man from the UK, he spent the last 13 years sculpting this massive, 150-foot dragon just for fun. The final result of this timely hobby is brilliant!

The 150-foot hedge is on the side of a property that he rents out. One day he was standing in the kitchen, looking at the bush, when he thought it could use a change.

“I was standing at my kitchen sink one day and thought the hedge was boring, so i decided to do something about it.” Said John.

For 13 years he’s worked on the hedge dragon, using his trusty sheers and pruning equipment.

John works a total of about 1 day per week on the sculpting project, he uses are his trusty old sheers. and pruning equipment. So why he picked a dragon?

“I think the dragon came from my days in the Army, I did two tours in Malaysia, so i guess the dragon must have been in my subconscious. I’ve added wings and the top was quite plain, but every year I add another couple lines of definition.” Said, John

His wife, Pippa, helps with some design elements, but it’s mostly left to John.

Johns waif Pippa had a back round in graphic design, she helps John with design elements here and there, but the brunt of the work if left to John, it’s his hobby after all.

It’s not an easy project, John’s messed up several times along the way. When that happens, he has no choice but to let the hedge grow out and try again.

John has spent the last 13 years sculpting the enormous dragon, with no plans of stopping in the near future.

The 150-foot dragon is quite the work of art! We all have hobbies, but John takes it to a new level with this one. It’s hard to believe just one person put this magnificent piece od art together. 13 years of work has paid off for the 75-year-old retired Army veteran.

This is a very inspirational story, it’s easy to get caught up in life’s responsibilities and forget to make time for the things you love to do. It’s nice to see this clever man, use his extra time in retirement to make something beautiful that everyone can enjoy. It also shows us that good things take time. If you put your mind to something, put in the time in and follow your vision, nothing can stop you!
